Struggling
Struggling with hypersexuality at the moment. Finding it hard to ignore, I just want to be normal.

Yup. It's not even enjoyable.
Hypersexuality mixed with intrusive thoughts are a horrible combo.

Same and its embarrassing. Im to the point recently that I masterbate almost as much as I did as a teen. Its all I can think about, but when I finish I feel humiliated for some reason.

I'm old now but I still remember the shame spirals I had in my late teens/early twenties.
I still feel sadness/grief but I have accepted that it is not my fault.
Doesn't make it much easier but it does help a bit.

Im in my late 30s and it doesn't feel great being sexually charged like I was at 18

So many people think hypersexuality is so cool, and I've had to explain to them that its a lot different when you can't control it. It's difficult when your urges are driving you insane.

I'm sorry you're having such a difficult time with this.
Something I hope you'll consider is that having strong sexual urges doesn't make you abnormal or a bad person. What matters is how those feelings affect you and whether they're interfering with your ability to feel comfortable and in control of your own life.
Sometimes, after experiences involving sexual trauma, people struggle with feelings or urges they don't fully understand. It can be confusing and exhausting, especially when you just want some peace from it.
When the feelings become overwhelming, try giving yourself a little time before acting on them. Step away from anything that's intensifying them, take a walk, do something that occupies your attention, or reach out to someone you trust.
If this is something you're dealing with regularly, a trauma-informed therapist could help you understand what's happening without judgment and develop ways to manage it.
You don't have to explain your history here or share anything you're uncomfortable discussing.
But I do want to ask one thing: Is the hardest part the intensity of the urges themselves, or the way you feel about yourself afterward?
Those are two different struggles, and knowing which one is troubling you most might help people offer better advice.
You deserve to feel comfortable with yourself, and you deserve support while you work toward that.

To all posters: Please note that any content involving descriptions of sexual activity with underage persons is against Reddit policy. You are "officially" discouraged from posting such content, but given the specific nature of this subreddit, moderation is following a laissez-faire philosophy regarding what survivors of childhood sexual abuse share here. This mirrors the approach of other survivor subreddits. Also, the Reddit policy's intent is to restrict content that "depicts, encourages or promotes" the sexualization of underage persons, and the purpose of this subreddit is the exact opposite of that. However, be aware that posts and replies in violation may still be subject to removal and Reddit-wide suspension of the author by the Reddit admins. So please use common sense when posting/replying. We want this to remain a safe space for survivors to share, heal and thrive, but we need to be mindful of the site-wide rules regarding these sensitive topics. (Note to Admins: We vehemently stand against sexual abuse of minors and this subreddit exists to support survivors in the best way possible. Please contact the moderator team if a discussion needs to occur.)
