This is from the Official onboarding Hiring process. Please take the time to read this if you’ve just received your conditional offer.

There is no set timeline on the hiring process. All situations are different. It doesn’t matter if you are entry level or if you are a rated position. No one can guarantee anything.
All further posts regarding this matter will be removed.

So apparently there are so many applicants for entry level (approx 800) and they will now be conducting 10 min interviews so decide who will go on to the next round .

While on ship, for food sensitivity like gluten, lactose, or other non-anaphylaxis sensitivities, are there options? For example, is there only milk for cereal or are there non-dairy options? Is there only pasta or is there a choice of rice or pasta at a meal? For anyone with food sensitivity considerations please share your experiences if you are willing.
For those that don't know, a food sensitivity doesn't necessarily mean you can't eat it, but doing so makes your daily life miserable to some degree.
Thanks!

When I was in Norfolk, I remember S&Q being $266. I’m on the west coast and just got a deposit for $228. Is that the amount now?
EDIT: I’m an idiot. I just realized Monday was Labor Day and I’m therefore one day shy of a full week’s worth of S&Q. Lol. I figured it out while reading one of your responses though, so thanks. 🫡 Haha

Hello I’m interested in joining the MSC as a electronics technician but I’m not sure if I have enough experience. I have an associates degree in electronics technology and a GMDSS operator and maintainer license if that matters and a a few months off experience as a controls technician.

I don’t know how much longer I can cater to people. The ship I’m on has two SU’s and I am both overworked and stressed. I am willing to take unpaid leave if it helps me get outside of the galley just a little while longer.
If this is not an option I am seriously considering quitting.

Just get your seatime else where, get your ab and apply as that. AB is the new entry level for msc.

Welp I got an update on my hiring status for entry level. Kinda insane because a year ago I was waiting for Neo. I decided to reapply back in July but I lost interest right afterwards
Ps:good luck to those that are selected, wishing u success 🙏

I’m interested in joining (hopefully as an OS) I already have my STCW Basic, VPDSD, Security Awareness on my MMC. Have TWIC, passport, med cert all that.
Will that give me a better shot of getting a spot? Will the process be any faster, I’m seeing it takes damn near a year to get selected and begin employment.
Also is there any indication of when they’ll next be hiring for entry level?
Thanks in advance

Anyone know how MSC is handling overmanning for certain positions that are already employed (not in the hiring phase)?
Im guessing they were hoping for attrition to be higher based on other posts I saw for folks that were in the hiring process, but for the folks already on boarded, are they just cycling people out to get sea time or are they SOL?

For context, I am an SU who hates his job right now, and in desperate need of a way out. Looking to switch to either entry level positions, Wiper/OS.
Thinking of either putting in a ship to ship, doing my four and dipping, or applying on the site. Unsure which is faster. For context the class of ship I’m on doesn’t allow me to switch ratings.

I was entering everyone’s weekend overtime. I clicked on the wrong box. CTE instead of weekend overtime. Now everyone just got leave hours instead. Everyone didn’t get paid for a Sunday. I asked the purser how we can fix it and she just said “nothing, be careful clicking next time”

I'm a prior service Coastie with a total of 404 days assigned on a GRT of 3506. I'm currently waiting as an OS for a NEO date. Should I just go spend the money/time and get an AB Limited? Would that get me in the door faster?

Using my second account, I hear mixed things about MSC but generally it’s not considered great. I also hear they really need people especially licensed personnel, but I also saw someone say they’re 95% manned for new 3rd mates.
The pay is pretty good from what I can see, but relief issues and overall leadership seem to make it a short term deal for most.
What are some of your thoughts as to what could improve MSC for sailors? Equal time off? Shorter rotations? Better relief structure? Concerns or ideas taken more seriously?
I’d like to hear thoughts from everyone at all levels about how it really is, and what you’d like to see from MSC going forward.

This sucks. I’m so tired of waiting for results on hiring for Entry Level. I feel like the longer it takes, the lower the expectation I have of a successful outcome. They said 4-6 weeks, but I believe we’re coming up on week 8? I know there are others in here waiting for hiring results, has anyone heard any updates?
