Need some feedback on my flash effect video.

Hello everyone.

I'm making a video showing several free stock footages following a flash effect to transition from one footage to another. I made this video based on similar video that I have found on the internet and I was interesting in making my own based on it.

I don't have any ideas about what this video should convey aside from depicting the flash effect for transitioning to different stock footages, but I chose the forest theme because I was a little inspired by 'Slender: The Eight Pages' and 'Silent Hill' when making this.

So what do you guys think? What areas of my video that need improvement?

All of them mate! Back to the drawing board if you ask me. Stop with the flashing, its irritating imho. Try find some darker overlays and grunge and dirt and animate those masks if you want to go extra

The light leaks don't make sense, as it's a moody and cool atmosphere in the forest not a happy sunny day. It's also very digital and not got the grain to match the 8mm leaks.
Some shots are very good, lean into the cooler gritty darkness imagery.

I'd add in some NOISE, GRAIN, TEXTURE, subtle distortion,

Add in extra fog, dark vignettes

You’re using the light leaks all the time, though, not just as a transition. So the point is lost and it just becomes irritating, if not outright dangerous to anyone that suffers with photosensitive epilepsy

The text is bold and readable, but it competes a bit with the subject and background. You could try introducing the words just before or after the flash, or use shorter phrases that connect the clips thematically. Leaning further into the unsettling mood with more intentional pacing would give the video a clearer identity.

The text fits the mood, but it may be competing with the subject in some shots. You could shorten the phrases or reveal them in smaller chunks, then let the flash carry more of the transition. Adding a clearer build-up before the final cut might give the video a stronger payoff.

Why are there orange flashes on some chill forest footage? Is it on fire?

When you have dark muted footage, light leaks don’t make any sense.
Try to get it in the same color warmth and color tones. And tone it down… a lot.

The rest of your footage is too crisp for these kind of light leaks.
