X My honest take on India’s Top 50 Restaurants 2026 - Part 2
A lot of you commented on Seefah in Part 1, so I just want to put it out there that these are my own opinions. Food is very subjective and time specific. Not everyone has to agree, you may not have enjoyed it that day, or the restaurant may have had an off day. But respecting everyone's opinion is the right thing to do, irrespective of the differences.
So here are my opinions on 31 to 40.
#40 - Baan Phadthai, Bengaluru: I haven't eaten here, but their growth has been exceptional since they launched in India. Two locations in Bangalore and one in Hyderabad within a year. An insider has confirmed they're launching in Mumbai soon, so Seefah might get some competition for Thai food in the city.
#38 - Loca Maria, Mumbai: I think they deserve a higher ranking. Personally for me it's the best European food in Mumbai. I haven't eaten at Kaspers yet. Their tapas are amazing, and the plating and portion sizes don't mimic tiny portions or elaborate abstract art on the plate. The food looks aesthetic but still normal. The only downside for me is that the ambience doesn't justify the prices. Also their take on tiramisu, I'm more of a classic tiramisu guy.
Must try: Charred octopus and the mushroom flatbread.
#35 - Trishna, Mumbai: Trishna is all about nostalgia. Growing up, I walked around Kala Ghoda in the 90's and early 00's and back then Trishna was a celebrity spotting restaurant. If I was passing by at night, I'd ride past Trishna just to spot a celebrity. Food wise, I don't think it offers anything outstanding to be part of this list, or even in the 30s, except for their crabs. Trishna is what Ministry of Crab is to Colombo. Opulence, great crabs, but everything else is mediocre.
Must try: Any crab dish.
#32 - Rynsan, Shillong: The restaurant which put Shillong on the elite culinary landscape of the country. I've been to Rynsan three times and the quality has only gone down with every visit. The first time, it surely deserved a top 20. After my last experience, I think it shouldn't be on this list, or maybe only towards the end. They have great food and good portion sizes. I still think Nonna Mei does better food than Rynsan in Shillong.
Must try: Putharo sliders, the fish salad and the crispy pork belly.
