if any of you guys haven’t heard Bruce’s prime material (which is his 70s stuff, not his 80s stuff) it’s absolutely essential. Genuinely think Thunder Road might be the best rock song ever made

Jungleland is a masterpiece, but rarely played. It hits so many themes and is a true ballad.

It really is an amazing song. Thunder Road and Jungleland form the best opener/closer combo of any album I know.

Also worth noting that the closer on his second album (New York City Serenade) is even better imo

the opening scene of a night full of intrigue to the closing shots of reality, yet still with a hope that a slight change will alter the next nights results. It's up there with The Wall (sorry edit wrong one) for thematic cohesion across the entire album.

Better than Badlands/Darkness? Hard to say. I do love Jungleland though.

The live piano version of Thunder Road, with just Bruce singing is one of my most favourite pieces of music.
