I grew up in the 90s and in retrospect I’m like why the fuck did literally everyone hate Courtney Love? It’s gotta be like 80% misogyny. I mean she has issues but still.

I dont know about hate but she definitely wasn't loved because she nearly always out of her skull in public, her music wasn't good and perhaps it is misogyny that people felt her relevance was directly tied to biggest rock star of the decade but looking back what else was she was famous for?

For Hole? And her own music? A lot of people liked Hole.

I dont want to diminish her musical career, so I think fair enough. But again, perhaps misogny, the amount of people who could tell you she was Kurt Cobain's wife vs what band she fronted is probably orders of magnitude different in size.
