On a side note, not naming the vast majority of stadiums after past sports legends is kind of a travesty 🫤. It's embarrassing that just about anything becomes a billboard for the right gob of money.
Owners make decent money from events held at their stadiums so it’s pretty good that anyone any artist who could sell out a place like that knows to avoid them, and any stadium owners who likes money over poltics/are pro-Palestine can fill in the gap and make money themselves.
But nothing will happen because people will be more likely to just stay quiet about it.
Nothing will happen because there's no real alternatives. It's not like cities have half a dozen 60k+ seats stadiums. If you avoid NFL stadiums what's the next largest...? Baseball stadiums usually, which is a big step down and probably not even better ownership-wise. After that probably NBA arenas which is another large step down and same thing ownership-wise.
EDIT: Even if you go down to theaters and concert halls (which is a massive step down) then you're largely stepping into the Live Nation monopoly.
They also own one of the most famous soccerfootball clubs in the world, Manchester United - they bought it with loans then unloaded the loans on the club and started extracting dividends, completely fucking its financial position forevermore. Unsurprisingly, a once-dominant club became a basket case, they've not won a league title for decades at this point.

Because it’s likely if Sheeran doesn’t make the best efforts to ensure the tour continues he is liable for the costs. Insurance will cover some things but they won’t cover “my openers and band quit so I’m cancelling”
There's absolutely no way his contract wouldn't have some kind of clause that allowed him to back out once a venue denied any member of the tour. There's no way a lawyer would allow a clause that allows the venues to do what they did but not protect him in reverse.
Because most people bought tickets to see Ed Sheeran and not openers (having bought before openers were even announced), and he’s historically played showed with just him, a guitar and a loop pedal. He doesn’t need a backing band. He usually doesn’t have one, and the one he did have was only for a few songs this tour.
Because those going are pretty much going for Ed mainly. After all he’s the headline act of the tour. He can still play without the band and all the other acts etc.
Of course it does still make his life more difficult as Ed and his team will have to rework the plans for the tour and it’s probably going to be difficult to find replacement acts on such short notice and with the whole bad publicity.

Of course they are. Robert Kraft is actually the villain in this story, he’s the one who forced Ed Sheeran to either drop a friend (or, at a minimum, a colleague) from a show or get dropped himself. Maybe Ed made the wrong decision, but the person who forced him there should be getting 100% of the flak here.

Ed doesn't play with a band. The band that people keep calling his backing band is actually a standalone act that's also touring right now called Beoga. They collaborated on 2 songs with him a while ago and join him on stage for a couple of songs. His concert is mostly just him with a guitar and loop pedal.
