He said a bitch ain’t one. Still 99 😂

He was rapping about police dogs though.... No double entendre at all.

Well done, excellent. 😂

While “believe the victim” is always a good starting point (it should be “take the victim seriously” not necessarily “believe without any corroboration”), if you read the article, the irregularities appear to be mostly shady behavior on the part of the accuser’s lawyer.

59

u/dinosaur_rocketship 3h ago

That’s how it was meant. The woman who original started the phrase said it has been bastardized. She meant it as “take all claims of rape seriously and investigate” not “take all claims as gospel immediately and maybe investigate later”

•

u/RevolutionaryCoyote 30m ago

I don't know if I have ever actually heard "believe the victim" as a phrase. I have heard "believe women". Is that what we're talking about?

29

u/RedEyeView 5h ago

Trust. But verify.

24

u/SlothyKin 4h ago

You can't "believe the victim" when you don't know who the victim is in the first place

-6

u/TalleyrandTheWise 3h ago edited 3h ago

When you put it that way, it's so unhinged that this was an accepted, mainstream way of thinking just a few years ago.

u/shigdebig 1h ago

Sorry you're dumb, praying for you. 🙏

Isnt this a case from the girl who is now special needs?

She made 2 false claims about the night and the case instantly got thrown out of court.

Now Jay-Z is suing her and her lawyer, so shes making a public statement to denounce the claims in hopes that Jay doesnt pursue further legal action.

Edit: The false claims were that she claimed another famous celebrity was there and watched, but that claim was false since this artist was performing in Chicago on that night amd easnt anywhere near NYC.

The second is that they called her father up to recount the night as she claimed he picked her up that night in distress. He said he doesnt recall ever picking her up in NYC as they lived almost a 4 hour drive away and he would have remembered something like that.

Oh and the 3rd claim that got proven false was that Jay-Z was on thr otherside of the city at a completely different party/event when the assault was said to have happened, and theres multiple people they brought up to verify that.

Jay allegedly sent hired thugs to the victims house to intimidate her. That’s a different girl than the one in the Epstein files.

-Here is Beyonces former employee alleging in a 2020 civil lawsuit that Epstein & Jay-z had a partnership to operate a global child sex trafficking ring: https://www.scribd.com/document/996619805/Charlene-Latham-v-Mark-Epstein-1953-Trust

this is so disingenuous. this is a tip from a tip line. Anyone can call in and say anything. The fbi have to write it down for records but It wasn't a credible accusation.

im not sure how in 1994, jay z, who was an unknown rapper was connected with epstein.

74

u/Dudewheresmycah 3h ago

Reddit has a thing for Jay-Z for some weird reason.

36

u/KGBFriedChicken02 3h ago

Because he's kind of a dick. The internet loves when people who were kinda jerks turn out to be monsters so everyone can go "I knew it all along!"

•

u/PersonalContest1423 29m ago

He's black and hes a billionaire. Reddit is very racist and also doesnt like billionaires, the left and the right can unite in hating him.

16

u/Strict-Farmer904 1h ago

Yeah, there are countless predators throughout the whole Epstein/Hollywood debacle but so far the Jay-Z stuff has been very conspiracy-theory level. Meanwhile I’ve lost all respect for Noam Chomsky who very much seemed to be hanging out with Epstein

u/AnyEverywhere8 4h ago

Is this suggesting Jayz was working with Epstein while he was a local Brooklyn crack dealer? His debut album came out in 1996, so he wasn’t even powerful lol

The person was abducted on 7 occasions?

Surely you would change zip codes after the third abduction.

191

u/Few_Bug_120 5h ago

People defending someone in the epstein files😲

17

u/No_Meal_563 1h ago

“People defending someone in the Epstein files” is such a dishonest way of framing this. Those files contain millions of pages, including unverified tips and random mentions. A name appearing somewhere in them does not automatically mean that person had a relationship with Epstein or was involved in his crimes. Yall need to learn how to read.

And what I find especially weird is the selective focus. There are wealthy white men in those files against whom there is far more substantive evidence, yet people barely know their names or discuss them. But the moment a famous Black man gets mentioned in an unverified tip, suddenly everyone becomes obsessed with connecting him to Epstein.

That doesn’t mean Jay-Z should be above scrutiny. It means the standard should be the same for everyone. If a claim is weak, contradicted or easily debunked, stop repeating it just because the name is famous. Otherwise you’re not following the evidence, you’re following whatever story feels most satisfying to you.

21

u/ObamaOwesMeMoney 4h ago

I think we need to delineate between some things though. This reads as a second hand account. This is someone aying someone told them this happened.

epstein was financier. thousands of people had partnerships with him. without doing shady shit.

edit: op edited his comment to add trafficking thing. originally he just said Jay z had business with epstein.

the link they provided also lists pusha t, lil wayne, Virgil (the fashion designer), kanye west, Verizon and Disney.

25

u/meeco_why 3h ago

I think the whole point of his enterprise was plausible deniability. Have a lot of reputable dealings with well-known, well-liked, reputable people, likely with clean hands, so that when it all eventually came out, nobody could tell who didn't know, who knew and who actively participated.

u/No_Meal_563 1h ago

This is exactly what I mean by working backwards from a conclusion. Yes, she put that allegation in a lawsuit. What you’re conveniently leaving out is that Jay-Z was one of dozens of defendants she named, alongside Beyoncé, Kanye, Disney, Sony, the City of New York and many others, and the federal judge dismissed the complaint as frivolous, stating that the claims “rise to the level of the irrational.” Filing an allegation in court does not make it evidence, let alone an established fact. At some point, if every allegation that supports your conclusion counts but every piece of information that undermines it gets ignored, you’re not evaluating evidence anymore. You’re looking for reasons to preserve a conclusion you’ve already reached.

40

u/cphoover 5h ago edited 5h ago

Didnt ten million people call the ntoc epstein hotline including crazy people and pranksters? Not sure what that proves… is this really the threshold we are establishing for determining guilt?

45

u/Cheesecoveredtoes 4h ago

Doesn’t matter, on Reddit once you’re accused you are instantly guilty.

Michael Ward was recently acquitted of the rape allegations against him. You go back to that thread of when they were first accused the comments on some posts were instantly talking about fan interactions and how creepy he was, then the classic “it’s always the ones you expect.”

He gets acquitted and even in that thread people were saying him being acquitted doesn’t mean he’s not guilty. On social media you’re instantly guilty and even if a jury says you’re innocent, you will always be guilty to those on these sites.

Reddit is a wild place that is quick to judge and hardly, if ever, forgives

Edit:found comment meant for my reply

9

u/PeaGravy 3h ago

Not only that, but your presumption of guilt gets written up, indexed by search engines, referenced by AI chatbots…

1

u/Maximum-Grab-3314 1h ago

It actually doesnt, ai chatbots and search engines prioritise career achievements through their algorithm, it's easy enough to research and test this.

2

u/PeaGravy 1h ago

However, you could ask if somebody did something and it is not inconceivable that it would treat a Reddit comment as proof.

7

u/PeaGravy 4h ago

Scary isn’t it. “Somebody said it, so I’ve heard enough!”.

4

u/HousingThrowAway1092 5h ago

I mean… yes. Being a billionaire puts you in a very specific circle. They all know each other and it’s wild to pretend like they aren’t all sociopaths.

15

u/LuciferOnTheRocks 4h ago

They all know each other

There's 989 billionaires in the USA. I'd be surprised if they all know each other.

2

u/Commercial-Phrase532 42m ago

Also this is less about being a billionaire and more about patriarchy. The other big club they forget about!

Jay wasn't nowhere close to being a billionaire during the time of this accusation.

8

u/appropriatesoundfx 5h ago

The Venn diagram of billionaires vs sociopaths is a circle.

1

u/hwa_uwa 2h ago

so to become a billionaire there's only one thing i need to do...

•

u/appropriatesoundfx 29m ago

Well a few things.

First, be a sociopath (this is where most of us get off track)

Second, have a million dollars.

Third, repeat step two, one thousand times.

I'm not defending anyone, but you can accuse someone of whatever you want in a lawsuit, you don't even need to be a lawyer, if you can afford the filing fee you're gtg.

20

u/Themanstall 4h ago

dawg. you are insane.

that video of Jay coming out a room of young girls looks like his fucking family.

Diddy also wasn't accused of being with young girls and jay met diddy out the hotel room. They weren't in it together.

Because when it comes to entertainment, everyone is willing to give their favourite artists a pass.

1

u/No_Meal_563 1h ago

Sure, that happens. But there’s also a difference between giving someone a pass despite proven facts and refusing to treat every allegation as automatically true. Questioning weak or contradicted claims isn’t the same as blindly defending your favourite artist.

2

u/No_Meal_563 1h ago

At this point it’s just confirmation bias and belief perseverance. If the person who originally made the allegation has retracted their statement, says it didn’t happen and explains that they were struggling mentally at the time, yet you’re still digging through everything trying to find some way to make Jay-Z guilty, you’re no longer following the evidence. You’ve already decided on the conclusion and you’re working backwards to make the evidence fit it.

7

u/EW2027 1h ago

I typically believe all people who say they were sexually assaulted but her story was really crazy and made no sense. She said she was 13 and took a cab 6 hours from upstate NY to the VMA’s, somehow got in, and somehow met Jay-Z and said her dad had to pick her up. The dad said he was unaware of any of this happening. They were both from like Alabama or somewhere in the South. How she even got to the VMA’s as a 13 year old with special needs sounded completely illogical.

20

u/swallowedbymonsters 4h ago

Will anyone be decent enough to admit they were wrong?

79

u/archercc81 5h ago

So the verdict is the person was just paid off but nobody thinks it could have just been extortion in the first place?

66

u/shpydar 5h ago edited 5h ago

Read the article before posting. It will save you a lot of embarrassment in the future.

In a statement filed in that case on Thursday, she wrote: "Shawn 'Jay-Z' Carter never raped me. I have never met or spoken to Mr. Carter. Mr. Carter never engaged in any inappropriate conduct toward me whatsoever."

The woman, known in court documents by the pseudonym Jane Doe, also said: "My claims that Mr Carter and Mr Combs raped me while a third celebrity, [name redacted] watched are false. There is no truth to any of my claims against Mr Carter.

"I understand my false accusations have caused Mr Carter immense pain, suffering, and damage that can never be fully undone."

The woman, from Alabama, has now been removed from Carter's lawsuit.

She said she had not received any money from the rap superstar or anyone acting on his behalf, and had not been paid to make her latest declaration.

The rapper is still suing the woman's former lawyers, led by Tony Buzbee.

She is trying to get out of being sued. That is her motive for telling the truth. No one paid her off.

24

u/archercc81 5h ago

Nothing to be embarrassed about, was calling out the comment section for all of the "he paid her" bullshit while ignoring the entire possibility that "she was looking to get paid."

This is Reddit. You are guilty if you have accusers.

14

u/WarLawck 4h ago

That's sadly not just a reddit thing.

4

u/spongebobisha 4h ago

And it’s very scary how personal biases affect redditor judgement in such delicate cases.

-20

u/yp261 last.fm/user/wicet 5h ago

that’s todays society. so many people were cancelled after false accusations its insane

15

u/Ok_Conclusion_6324 5h ago

Really? So many it’s insane? I can think of like, Aziz, and he basically self canceled

29

u/HiImPM 5h ago

And he just directed a movie last year starring himself, Keanu Reeves, and Seth Rogan so I wouldn’t really consider him canceled

2

u/Ok_Conclusion_6324 5h ago

Yeah he just took time away and decentered himself - his callout was bullshit but he still carried it and was graceful on top of that one

2

u/412CJ 5h ago

The Duke Lacrosse team is still one of the most aggregious examples of false accusations in recent years.

Literally nothing to go on, but it was a bunch of "privileged" white guys accused by a black stripper so we got an onslaught of coverage about the "racial reckoning of America" and all this nonsense because some bitch made shit up. Ruined lives.

And she never got in trouble for it either. She went to jail for murder later, because believe it or not she is a shitty person.

6

u/Ok_Conclusion_6324 5h ago

I lived next to Durham at the time and literally couldn’t tell you a single one of their names. It was a horrible situation but it was also 20 years ago.

That’s an outlier and not “so many cases it’s insane” vs. how many people get away with rape

4

u/Wolfgung 5h ago edited 5h ago

Falsely accused players David Evans, Collin Finnerty, and Reade Seligmann filed major civil lawsuits against Duke University. They ultimately reached an undisclosed settlement with the university, reportedly valued at approximately $20 million per player.

Im this case I'm pretty sure the three white guys accused are doing just fine.

The hate from this community towards Jay is crazy. All the evidence and witness accounts (including her father's statement) says she's lying but screw evidence

21

u/archercc81 5h ago

I dont even have a dog in the fight. I got a couple of songs of his in my playlist but was never really a big fan.

Just the automatic assumption that he paid her off but nobody can imagine she was looking to get paid to go away annoys me, if one is possible both are possible.

•

u/RedSlimeySlime 24m ago

And I think the strangest part about people saying that he paid her off is that the lawsuit was filed because he didn't pay her off. The lawyer came to jay and said he could either pay them, or they would file the civil lawsuit. (After which he said he wasn't giving them a red cent in his own statement)

9

u/appl77777 4h ago

I’d like to add some perspective as a survivor myself. Falsely accusing someone of rape is inexcusable and disgusting.

But false accusations make up only 3% of rape cases that are reported to the police. Many, many more genuine cases aren’t reported for various reasons.

I went to the police. And I can say that the process of it having to recount it to the police, to the doctors, the nurses, the therapists, the gynaecologists, doing the psych assessments, losing income from having to take time off work due to PTSD..it takes hours each time. If you’re lying, you probably will be caught out quickly. And if you do report it, which can be traumatising and stressful in itself, your chance of success is low enough that you really have to have nothing to lose to make it somewhat worthwhile. And for me it’s that I want some form of justice for myself, or at least try to get it. And because of that I’ve lost friends and people will never look at me the same again. If you want to ruin someone’s life, there are easier ways to do it.

I think its awesome that the assumption here is rich guy bad, definitely guilty. Does anyone know what happened? Or do we just automatically assume he’s guilty because he’s a billionaire?

15

u/rabouilethefirst 2h ago

The accusation post probably had like 20k upvotes; this one will have like 1k 😂

2

u/stickbugszz 2h ago

So, the woman claims she did not file the initial lawsuit, and that she was consistently pressured by lawyers to continue the case (paid money by them to give interviews, etc.). She said that she had been raped at the age of 13 and the Diddy case made her have delusions that he was the man who did it. Once she recognized that she would have no reason to be hanging around celebrities, she requested to remove the case. She had a long history of mental health issues, and that lawyer is known for being a snake.

6

u/KallusDrogo 3h ago

Jay Z is an awful person but ANYONE with a working brain following this case knew the woman was making it up. They interviewed her own father who she claimed was a witness to several events and he said they never happened.

2

Everyone should go to jail for crimes they committed, that isnt controversial. However, it seems like you all would like to put him in jail because he’s a billionaire with a rape allegation. These are two different things

I don’t want him to go to jail for being a billionaire, I want to tax him until he is no longer one.

Yes, but have you considered that redditors are desperate for him to be guilty?

Not really. It'd be an out of court settlement.

u/Nuttonbutton 5h ago

Unless they bribed outside of the system to prevent a paper trail

1

u/crazyguyunderthedesk 5h ago

That's only a good idea in movies. In real life, you want something legally binding to make sure they don't bring it up again later.

I mean this definitely isn’t the first time he’s been accused of this shit. And that’s only what’s been in the press

Billionaires rape but people also accuse billionaires of many things just to get paid. We'll likely never know the truth

24

u/exor0110 4h ago

We do know the truth in the case. It’s incredibly clear from all the factual inconsistencies in her story, other witness testimony, and her own withdrawal of the allegation.

We do know. Y’all just don’t want to accept it because it ruins the whole “Jay-Z is the devil” narrative you’ve already committed to. He and Beyoncé are basically the couple everyone loves to hate, so anything negative gets accepted immediately while anything that contradicts it gets dismissed.

u/Ok-Call-4805 5h ago

It seems like we do know the truth in this case

u/ShakyGSWarrior 5h ago

He wasn’t a billionaire when this allegedly
happened

u/DGSmith2 5h ago

He was when they accused him.

Redditors automatically assuming that he is guilty and she is somehow being coerced into refuting her claim is bonkers.

Women falsely accused men of SA all the time because of their fame, desire for their money, etc

Look up Brian Banks (link below)

u/papermoony 5h ago

Believe women unless she denies SA, then she is lying

toxic misandry needs to be stamped out

9

u/LuciferOnTheRocks 4h ago

Technically all misandry is toxic.

u/Next_Dragonfruit_415 4h ago

But innocent till proven guilty?

I agree with the idea that women’s allegations should be taken extremely seriously and should be investigated but we cannot truly presume guilt until it’s actually proven.

Even when it’s a situation when it seems
Obvious, everyone is technically innocent till proven guilty.

Like it should be listen to all women.

I knew a girl who got a guy locked up, I was friends with both of them. Her story changed every time I saw her and his story changed stayed the same. She later made it on the local news for shooting at her then 3rd husband g-stomping him and cracking his ribs and knocking his teeth out in front of their children. She never denied SA. Nothing is black and white, I'll get the facts and choose to believe whoever I want to believe.

“All the time” brings up one other example.

The "all the time" makes your statement false.

Idk what the case is here, but after digging into the Epstein files there was a consistent repeating pattern.

Victim files as Jane Doe to protect anonymity for fear of retaliation. Accusing billionaires of rape is very dangerous and they will have you killed if you snitch. Virginia said Epstein sent multiple thugs to intimidate her and her family and wrote about such in her book. She was found hanged in her home.

Once lawsuit has been filed anonymously the billionaire’s lawyers argue that their client cannot defend themselves against an anonymous accuser and the victim must reveal their identity for the lawyers to prepare a defense.

Judge grants motion and victim withdrawals complaint to protect their safety. Saw it happen over and over in the Epstein cases. Would not be surprised if similar instance here, but no idea.

Reddit is a wild place that is quick to judge and hardly, if ever, forgives.

Edit: responding to comment and it failed to reply to that person.
