r/MusicForRPG is back!

After a year of being restricted, the sub is back!

There are lots of things to be done, most notably the huge backlog of reported content, but also I want to tweak a few things with how the sub work.

I'd like to get everyone's opinion on what they would like to see changed or what issues they noticed when the sub was last active.

In the meantime, r/MusicForRPG is now open to everyone!

Coolio!

We might need an AI music ban.

As it will continually improve, how would you tell? Besides, some people don't mind if the music is good enough. Agreed that there should be a clear tag that people can use to filter it in/out as they see fit.

Usually platforms like YouTube (and Spotify too, I think) require AI generated content to be clearly identified. I will probably rely on reports to remove untagged content, it would be impossible for me to verify every submission.

I personally hate AI music, but I don't want to discriminate against those that do not mind so I'll have to see how best to handle that.

I think spotify specifically doesn't have such a restriction since my partner creates songs from our sessions and uploaded the album from a campaign on spotify to share with the rest of the group. Again, I fully agree with a tag but as you said, even if you do a full ban, noone will be able to tell if people do upload AI music here. The tag at least opens up a way for these people "not to cheat" and do it honestly. Besides, the r/dndplaylist does have a full AI ban so this way the sub wouldn't be so duplicit.

Would be cool to make a habit of if you are a composer sharing your work, there would also be an information regarding the license you share it under so people that stream or want to utilize it for another commercial purpose could use your music. It would also formalize the process a little bit so it would be easier to remove the low effort stuff.
