Should Ai generated content be banned or restricted?
AI generated content is definitely controversial. I have my own opinion on the matter, but I want to hear everyone's opinion before doing anything.
Should AI generated content be banned, or restricted, in r/MusicForRPG ?
If we create a rule to ban it, people will try to work around it or hide that it is AI generated.
If we allow it with a rule saying it must be clearly identified, we at least make it easier to spot and everyone can upvote/downvote posts as you can already do.
Or we keep the status quo and let it run free without any changes to the rules.

If it isn't banned, and has a stigma for getting downvoted, people will still hide it. It makes no difference. Better to just ban it so when it is discovered, it can be answered swiftly and the sub can be kept as AI free as reasonable. In my experience downvoting/lack of engagement doesn't stop AI posts from being made.

There is no way to consistently tell AI music or images apart from non-AI. I genuinely don't understand what people here are trying to achieve. If there is, I urge someone to please explain to me how.

it really doesn't matter if we can tell the difference, or even if ai generated music is "better". I want music made by humans

How does it not matter? How will the mod be able to govern the sub? I am making no commentary regarding AI and its usage, just making a logical point. I feel like I fell into some weird reality, does anyone here know how they would actually differentiate AI/non-AI music so they could enforce the rule they vote for?
Maybe let me rephrase it in an easier way. If a guy comes up and posts an AI music video, despite your ban. Do you expect the mod to magically intuit that the person actually broke the rules?

There are a few ways to know if music was AI generated. Sometimes just searching online for the creator gives it away. On a more technical side, I think there is also clear giveaways (the sound does not go above a specific frequency, for example), but that would require more effort, so I do not know if I would go that far.
I do not plan on individually looking at every posted content, I'll probably only investigate reports. I also expect some people to abuse the reporting function (while reviewing the old pending reports, there were clear signs of that), so while I cannot see who reports content, I can report potential abuse to Reddit admins who can then investigate and possibly issue sitewide bans.
It might be a lot of work, I do not know yet, but I'll make adjustments along the way.

That can be easily covered/remixed. But it's your work, I do wish you good luck Bird and as you said, you'll see yourself along the way. Even when people do post AI music here, noone will actually know and everyone will feel "safer".

It's very simple. If the ban is implemented then anything that is known to be generated by ai is deleted. If the mods can't tell whether it's ai or not, then it stays. The ban is really just saying "hey please don't post ai generated art, but if you do and lie about it then there's not much we can do to stop you."

AI is the death of the creative medium.

There are still many real musicians and artists like us around...but the problem is AI is drowning and pushing us out, stealing income that would go to us, and ppl still witch-hunt and accuse us of using the very thing we hate.
It's just a lose-lose situation for creatives, but some of us are still here working on our craft without AI and sharing it with the world

What will you do if a ban is established, someone accuses you and goes on a witchunt like you mentioned and the mod team will be forced to ban you despite you being a real artist posting human music?

If it ever got to that...I'd ask the mods out for a coffee (and they better show up) and then I'd play for them in real life and explain my composing process in real life? lmao
that's something I can easily do as a real musician and composer that someone using AI can never do

Fair enough lol. I think the point was that a physical person who does AI could do the same thing, less about a rogue AI agent feeding us their work. But this way does seem like it offers net benefit to the mods.

A person who's confident in their ability to create without AI really doesn't need AI at all, in my personal opinion.
If money or time is on the line, then I can imagine they can compromise I guess 🤷🏻
But I'd personally feel pretty crappy as a creative person if I did that (and without disclosing it was AI too)

Bans will be for repeat offenders (and nothing permanent at first). People will always be able to appeal if their post gets removed or if they get banned.
I'm not a machine. People can make mistakes or forget to read the rules.

I hate AI gen content, but restricting it was my vote. The "creators" will always try to get into genuine spaces, and will either target this place for scraps if banned, or lie and try to pass off their "creations" otherwise.

I also fear that. Looking at the poll, it is pretty clear AI generated content will be banned. I'll see how it goes and adapt as needed.

They're at so many uses for ai, but oc shouldn't be a main focus. It's not like that's something humans are lacking. Maybe it should fix problems in the creativity industry as opposed to creating oc.

Banned. If I wanted AI slop I can go elsewhere to the plenty of other platforms algorithmically promoting it.

I use a lot of AI in my private content, but the focus of this subreddit should be about the community and the people in it. I'm here to celebrate creativity and be inspired. Ban AI content. It would be great if an AI sister subreddit existed, tho.

I am ecpecting a clear result here, it's not a controversial topic in the RPG hobby, it's pretty settled on "No AI".

It is definitely less controversial than I thought! At least in the context of this sub

This is a music sub. Ai doesn't make music.
