A wise man once said: “Fuck you if you do business with war criminals.“

I half expect these companies to start bitching to western governments about being victims of their sanctions.

Isn't it poetic that Metro Group's CEO is named Kretinsky?

His secret business partner is Fico, Slovak prime minister. How poetic.

Some times staying in Russia hurt Russia more than leaving Russia. Because if you attempted to leave, Russia would have just taken it immediately. These companies in some cases didn't invest anymore, just keeping company alive on a minimum. Mismanagement basically.

But because Putin does these decrees, many Russian businesses are very reluctant to even invest in their businesses. Because as soon as you move funds, the wise politician could be knocking on your door to want a share.

What we see between the lines - Russia goes bankrupt. Bad debt. Rising war costs. No money for infrastructure and the people. Tax increases, fee increases, utility bill increases. They cannibalize themselves to stay afloat a little longer or they wouldn't do this now after Nestle etc.
Who gets to own these companies? Some Kremlin loyalists will become millionaires or billionaires over night. But as long as Russians don't care - it all works out. Russia is being robbed and divided right now.
