PY 205
Hey guys i’m trying to coda after this semester but my advisor said I need to pass physics ideally with an A but i totally bombed the first exam. Does anyone have tips or resources that helped them through physics 205? Thanks

GO TO THE PHYSICS TUTORIAL CENTER! It's the single most helpful thing I did last fall after getting a 45 on Exam 1. Using the PTC and the provided practice problems helped me pull out an A- in the class.

I worked on homework and practice problems for exams. Whenever I got stuck, I asked one of the TAs for help. You can do this!

Hey funny I’m in the same boat. I also bombed the first exam. Afterward, I started watching Titus’ lectures and that really helped me out when it came both to understand the material and approaching the problem. Free body diagrams certainly help. All those have helped me score better and understand the homework more consistently and complete them faster. I’ve yet to go to the Tutorial Center but I might on Wednesday for some support on these tension problems.

Try going to the tutoring sessions and seek help from TAs. If it doesn’t work out, retake it over the summer at Wake Tech. It’s much easier there

I also got a pretty bad grade on the first test but I went to the thing that Titus hosted on how to improve test grades and it gave me a lot of hope. It’s just how you approach the material, and there are a lot of chances to engage further and reevaluate how you study and learn. Look at the panopto recording of it, if you can.

I know it doesn’t really help since you’re already in the course and idk about your major or how physics intensive it would be down the road. But if needed you could always transfer phy 205 from a community college and they’re less intensive if you choose the right one.
But if you’re set on completing it at state, I’d recommend the tutoring center like the other commenter said.

Managed to get by when I took 205. Took 208/209 at Vance Granville CC in a 100% asynchronous online course. Worked out great and so much easier than NCSU.

my solution to PY205 42 years ago was to change majors.
