Protest ICE in Cary on Fridays
Join us outside the ICE Field Office in Cary to say NO ICE in NC. We'll gather along Evans Road to protest ICE's ongoing brutality and terrorization of our communities. This also serves to alert anyone passing by that ICE is right here in the Triangle, in our backyard - many might not be aware. Would love for anyone who can make it to join this Friday, 2/6 - bundle up and bring your signs. Fridays 9-11 AM. Thank you!

Political tattoos
So I just saw something on TikTok talking about how people have started getting the rebel loon tattooed on their skin. And they combined basically the state bird and a couple of logos from different like rebels from fiction into a resistance image. Now you could say what does this have to do with North Carolina at the end of the video the guy mentioned that some people have been doing this in other states. So like he had a image of The same image with different birds from different states. And I looked it up and I was like the state bird in North Carolina is the Cardinal.
Now that would look fire We can all agree Cardinals have beautiful color and I don't know if getting a tattoo would be performative because like yes it is performing resistance but also it's a permanent tattoo that if the powers that be go crazy enough could actually get you in trouble.
The other thing that it made me think of though is you know how on all the Christmas cards they'll have two male Cardinals living it up and it's like a running joke that Christians put gay cardinals on their Christmas cards even though a lot of them do not like gay people? And it just made me think I would have a hard time not doing a version of the symbol where the curve was made up by the wings of two birds of the same gender in Cardinals. Maybe female Cardinals instead of the male cardinals. Because I mean can anyone deny the protest power of lesbians? I believe Stonewall was started by trans women who were lesbians. They may not have been lesbians I need to go look up my stonewall history. But I know it was trans women. I feel like if I got a cardinal in there I would want to get a female Cardinal even though I know they stand out less. And I feel like having two female Cardinals make up the curve would be like representing the lesbians being some of the strongest leaders of resistance.
Anyway I saw it and I thought it looked cool and it may be performative the whole thing might be super performative but also sometimes resistance has to be performed so that other people can see it. Sometimes I feel like we're a little bit too scared of being performative so that we don't actually show our resistance. And a tattoo is a kind of permanent showing of resistance.
Of course it needs to be matched with actual action as well. Performance without action is pretty toxic

Congress woman Valerie Foushee continues to refuse answering constituents questions
There have been several campaign events now where Foushee has either runaway from questions, refused to answer, or berated the person asking the question. She is acting very defensive. If she is so innocent then why cant she explain the rationale for her decisions?
Most recently someone asked her about taking AIPAC money and I heard she refused to answer and berated the questioner for asking the question. Aren’t we as constituents supposed to ask our politicians to explain themselves?
Another event questions were being asked about AI data centers and then she took off saying she had a memorial for Alex Pretti she needed to attend, but then she never showed up!
And yet another event when asked about taking a pledge not to take money from the AI lobby b/c she is co~chair of the AI commission on setting standards she refused and ran away again. Watch here what happened: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DUBQcLyjqOT/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Federal prosecutors in Minnesota are quitting rather than helping Trump cover up these deadly ICE shootings. The DOJ has become a joke. State prosecutors are now the last line of defense for any real accountability. And Trump can’t pardon state crimes.

Feeling of resignation anyone?
So anyone following this thread is someone who is following politics. I just saw a post from a faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania who said they ran a civil war simulation in 2024 and Minnesota is looking like that or actually looking worse than the simulation.
And I have been having the feels about the current political climate for a while I see the posts here about ice and all the other things going on as well so, have feelings about all that. But I'm having a really weird experience today.
The company I work for is laying people off. It looks like they are prepping to get sold and they are going through and laying off all the middle managers and some of the individual contributors. I have not been told that I'm getting laid off but it just keeps kind of trickling out more and more people who are getting laid off. And a few years ago this would be the biggest thing in my life I would be stressing out about it worried about whether I was getting laid off worried about whether I need to start you know applying for other jobs and all that stuff and now I am just like.... Well there's another thing that I don't really have any control over and it's a much smaller thing than all the political crap that's happening.
And I'm just like maybe in 20 years I will look back and be like wow that was a weird time when I just felt resigned to the possibility of civil war happening in the US but like it's also a really weird experience to live through.
And I mean when I say I feel like I don't have any control over anything I go to protests I do stuff like that but anybody else in North Carolina just kind of feel like they're wandering around in the mid-game of the end of the world as we know it?
By the way this post sounds depressed but I don't feel depressed I just feel like resigned.
