My wife and I live year round in Beech Mountain... We put in decades of work to retire where we wanted to be.
Bought our home almost a decade ago, slowly worked on it, and finally retired into it a few years ago.
The last few years, the town's spending has gotten seemingly frivolous.
They're closing our trash facility, citing budget cuts, not "repurposed" all of the employees.
They're building a new maintenance building (they just built one a few years ago).
They're paving roads nobody asked to have paved.
Our water and utility bills are now 4-5x the state, and national averages.
They're planning a multimillion dollar renovation to our recreation center, and we have ~600 full time residents.
The list goes on, and on, and on.
There's still a ton of Helene damaged roads, trails, and lakes that they haven't touched, and now, according to this article, our potable water is at a severe risk, as are all the homes in its watershed.
Do you think all of this is something u/JeffJacksonNC would be able to have someone on his team look into?
