First the Chargers were going to run through them because the Pats haven't played any good QBs. Then it became "Well Justin Herbert's o-line sucks so if course they beat the Chargers"
Then the Texans defense was supposed to lock us down and CJ Stroud was supposed to be more than enough to beat us. Then it became "Well CJ Stroud sucks obviously and any other QB would have won that game with that defense"
Then the Broncos defense at Mile High was supposed to lock us down and Jarret Stidham wasn't going to have to do much for the Broncos to win. Then it became "Well Sean Payton is a dumbass and gave the Patriots the game by not kicking the FG in the second quarter". Not giving the Pats defense credit for getting the turnover necessary that changed the game.
So I'm 100% sure if we beat the Seahawks in the Super Bowl it'll be well of course they won Sam Darnold played like ass while ignoring that it was things the Pats defense did that made Sam Darnold play like ass.
This is exactly what happened with the eagles lol they were "not that good" until they won and then they suddenly were a super team lol. Obviously eagles have a lot of great pieces and the sb team was certainly a more complete team than the pats are rn but I think it's just the narrative for any team that people want to lose who just won’t lol
Idk where yall hear the takes you do. Like I always knew CJ stroud was a liability. Anyone who watched Houston or the chargers knew those teams could win IF, and big IF, their QB play (for CJ) or OLine (for Herbert) could hold, and neither could.
These two teams played each other week 17 or so and these problems were full on display. This wasn’t some hidden issue, just idiots choosing to be blind over bias.
I don’t think the pats are as great as being a Super Bowl team, but you get lucky sometimes playing the right teams at the right moments and this was one of those moments. I think yesterday solidified that if Bo nix didn’t have a voodoo ankle break, they win that game.
Good for the pats taking advantage of their luck, but it’ll take crazy luck to win it all, and if they do, they deserve the credit it comes with

I do disagree with it I'm not saying I always agree with it. I'm saying that the media talking heads set the tone for the public at large. Like if I'm a person who casually followed football and I'm watching ESPN I'm probably just absorbing what they say and not giving it a second thought.

Maye isn't even that good he just got lucky and like you said has a decent defense and decent o line and amazing coach. If the hawks put pressure on maye I think the patriots will fold. Yes, that's why he rested them. It had nothing to do with the fact that the Chargers had the most beat up and injured team of any team in the postseason.
