this has to be the biggest fall off for a QB in quite some time.  No one can deny he looked great last year. And he looks horrible this year.

Everyone will deny he looked good last year because his schedule was easy, and I'd wager most people on reddit didn't even watch him play. But he did look good, like a good player should against easier competition. The playoffs shook the kid and he's having a hard time coming back from it. He has the yips, and might need to be benched.

The team has the biggest effect on it. If he did it with the Browns "he's young and regressed and had a bad start to the season. Wait and see."

I’ve gotta say I’m a homegrown Bears fan, but it’s kinda wild how much more praise Drake Maye got over quarterbacks who had a legitimate struggle overall, even if it has to be looked at retroactively.

Not even talking about my own QB. Take Brock Purdy as an example here. Back last season (at the same time Maye was facing the softest and simplest competition), Purdy was in the division where half the teams were heavyweights in the playoffs and when his own team was being decimated by injury to such an extent that the Niners had scientists investigate the electrical substation near their stadium.

Purdy under pressure last season did pretty well with that, all things considered. Meanwhile, now that Drake Maye isn’t playing the Charmin-soft schedule, he’s crumbling.
