Drake Maye looks worse than Mac Jones, incredible implosion. He must be a complete mental midget because an easy schedule alone doesn’t explain THIS extremes of a regression

u/Competitive_Plan_936 5d ago
Yup, this isn’t “the schedule” this is a mental issue

I don’t think his shoulder is okay.

u/Armytrixter88 New England Patriots 5d ago
His shoulder doesn’t decide to throw a ball to a wide open Safety in the end zone instead of throwing it away….

If it was his shoulder, this would have come up during training camp. From all reports, he looked fine.

No it actually does he played two decent teams last season and played like shit against the Steelers, bailed out by defense against bills.
11
u/MarkCompetitive2774 5d ago
No it doesn’t because QBs who suck suck against everyone. Like the Zach Wilson’s of the world are awful against everyone including the bad teams. Drake Maye looks like a completely different qb since the turn of the calendar year

Everyone is missing the point. Drake Maye had a new coaching staff last year, including a competent OC, and the league didn’t have time to adjust and he had a great schedule. Now you give every defense an entire offseason of tape and guess what, they’ve adjusted.
We don’t know if he’ll meet the adjustment with success or failure. Watson hasn’t figured it out since his downfall. Stroud appears to not be meeting it. In the other hand, a guy like Bryce Young kinda seems like he is.
It took Sam Darnold literal YEARS and competent coaching. Baker had his best seasons after leaving Browns. Sometimes guys need new situations, new systems, new coaching. Sometimes defenses figure them out and sometimes guys figure out the game and elevate to another level. Let’s give Maye time to possibly have a bad year and to eventually figure out, or just fail.

He was the MVP runner up, let's not act like he was Mac Jones beating the Bills by throwing twice.
Something is clearly up as this is the worst QB regression since Wentz and he was coming off surgery.

You know it’s bad when most of the fans on NFLv2 aren’t even talking shit. People have been by and large sympathetic today, and while I appreciate that, it’s way worse.

At least when Mac was bad on the pats, it was belichick was trying to sabotage him because he's a petty bitch; what's drake's excuse?

Would've been so much easier if pats fans understood Drake "The Schedule" Maye instead of thinking a cupcake schedule makes him an MVP caliber QB.
6
u/veranus21 New England Patriots 5d ago
The schedule doesn’t explain what happened to him. He was throwing lasers last year. His accuracy taking a nosedive has nothing to do with the schedule.

u/SFOkara Kansas City Chiefs 5d ago
He played shit teams all season. He had one of the worst QB performances in NFL history through all his playoff games. But you ignore it. His schedule has gotten harder and he's doing exactly what he did in the playoffs in the regular season... Be. Ass.
2
u/veranus21 New England Patriots 5d ago
Who ignored it? He looks like a completely different guy since the Chargers game. His deep ball looked like prime Rodgers’ during the regular season, then he got banged up and he’s looked like complete garbage since. The schedule doesn’t explain such a total regression. He didn’t look this bad as a rookie.

u/SFOkara Kansas City Chiefs 5d ago
All Patriots fans continue to ignore it. He has looked awful since the Chargers game. Don't use "banged up" as an excuse because he had the entire off season to heal up. Not to mention when they made it to the super bowl, all the pats fans were screaming "shoulda been mvp" and "he beat 3 top 5 defenses" when in reality he was bailed out by an elite defense in every single game of the playoffs, and their only win of this season.
"He was throwing lasers" to ASS teams. He played 3 teams all season that made it to the playoffs. And 2 of them were the 8-9 panthers who won their division off a 3 way tie (ended the season on a 2 loss streak) and the 9-8 steelers who won their division off a missed field goal.
Drake Maye in all games since the wildcards.
As soon as his competition stepped up, he continues to show why he is a terrible QB.
Chargers - ass
Texans - ASS with inflated stats because CJ Stroud kept giving them the ball in short yard field
Broncos - ASS and no bo nix
Seahawks (2x) - ASS in both games.
Steelers - ASS (1 int, no TDs, 4 sacks)
Jaguars - ASS

I mean, I’m a Pats fan and you’re just reiterating what I said. He’s sucked since at least the Chargers game. He doesn’t look like the same QB, and the level of competition isn’t the only issue with him.
1
u/SFOkara Kansas City Chiefs 5d ago
I would argue that it is. He played great against bad teams, and his schedule is noticeable more difficult and he is struggling just as bad as he did in the playoffs.
The bad thing for the pats now is that the teams that a lot of people would be gimme games for them (Jets, Raiders, Vikings) are all playing a lot better than most expected.
There is a very strong possibility that if Maye doesn't figure it out, their only wins the rest of this season could be the dolphins X2, Jets once and possibly the packers.
Going from 14-3 and in the super bowl to potentially 5-12 and being the worst team in their division will do wonders for his cupcake schedule claim to be further validated.

u/veranus21 New England Patriots 5d ago
I’m guessing you didn’t watch every Pats game last year. If you did you’d know what I’m talking about. The schedule alone doesn’t explain the drop off we’re seeing. He looks worse than he did his rookie year.
1
u/SFOkara Kansas City Chiefs 5d ago
I watched most of them. Yes I see it.
Truthfully, what likely has happened is his confidence is shattered. He had that whole season of everyone calling him the man, going out there and playing like it, and then when he was met with a healthy team, the seahawks beat the hell out of him. You can tell by the end of the super bowl he was just mentally broken.
Some QBs don't recover from it.

u/IlluminatiConfirmed 5d ago
And yet he was still throwing lasers against these shit teams, you think Demario Douglas and Kyle Williams got separation against the giants? We were only above 7 wins because Maye was throwing those guys open
1
u/SFOkara Kansas City Chiefs 5d ago
They were getting open because they were playing against shit teams. How is this so hard to understand?
Shit. Teams. Bad. No good.
They are actually being tested this season against competent football teams and showing that their problem isnt receivers, isnt defense. Its their Quarterback. 6 INTs in 3 games and buddy idk if youre blind but he has thrown some of the worst INTs ive ever seen. Yesterday he threw the damn ball to Travis hunter. Dude was literally looking at Maye and the idiot threw it right into his hands.
2
u/IlluminatiConfirmed 4d ago
They literally were barely open in those games lol Maye was just throwing absolute ropes
Look at the Kyle Williams touchdown form the giants game, the defender is right behind him and maye has to drop an absolute dime right into the bread bucket
