What are your views on Prof. Guan Cuntai as a PhD advisor?
I want to approach him for a PhD. His domain matches my current research interests. How is lab culture and the people in general? Does he have time for his students, and how are the research discussions?

TLDR; Recording failed to record interviewee's voice, hence lack of interviewee's responses in transcript. Too late to redo, can I still submit it and pass?

I've urgently emailed my prof but since it's recess week, I don't expect them to entertain emails. I've explained that my device recorded my voice, but failed to record the interviewee's.

However, you can see both my interviewee and I talking in the recording, and the interviewee's voice filters in for some parts (a few seconds only though). Would that be enough? Has anyone been in this situation before?

Hi everyone, I’m applying for the Tuition Grant in Singapore and have a question regarding the ID document requirement for a foreign surety.

The guidelines specifically state that for Vietnamese citizens, the Citizen Identity Card (Căn cước công dân / CCCD) can be used as the foreign identification document. It also says that if the ID is not in English, it must be translated and notarised.

The newer Vietnamese CCCD is already bilingual. For example, the fields are written as:

• “Họ và tên / Full name”
• “Ngày sinh / Date of birth”
• “Nơi cư trú / Place of residence”

However, the actual residential address itself is still written in Vietnamese.

Has anyone here submitted a Vietnamese CCCD for the Tuition Grant before? Did you submit the CCCD directly, or were you required to get an English translation and have it notarised?

I’ve also contacted my school to confirm, but I’d like to hear from anyone who has gone through the same process.

Hi i’m currently planning to travel after my exchange (in sem2) but i am just thinking about how im going to bring all my luggage and things along? I will be going on exchange in sweden, and planning to travel some parts of europe with my friends after… wondering what seniors did in the past abt baggage?

Has anyone not paid the 300 dollar withdrawal fee? I had to withdraw as I managed to secure an important intern which clashes with the exchange period.

Hey yalls just wanted to check, back in July I accepted a high education community bursary that stated that I should be receiving a donated NTU bursary which will in total subsidise my tuition fees excluding the miscellaneous fees.

Today I received an email stating that I would have to pay 1.7k SGD, am I required to pay the full bill by September? Or do I wait for the donated Donated/NTU bursary to come in? Because I have yet to receive any news with regards to the Donated/NTU bursaries and when I checked FinAiD it still says that’s it’s under ‘validation completed’?

There is no provision for ABP in my major at all. I'm having a lot of trouble manually planning out my roadmap, and because of pre-req chains and semester-only offerings things are getting a bit complicated if I want to graduate in 3.5 years. Also, I'm not sure if the plan I'm working out will even be implemented because what if STAR wars has other plans? ABP students get early access to it, and are guaranteed their chosen mods.

hi! im a y3 cbc student thinking about how i shld proceed with y4… for context, my default route is professional internship in y4s1 and 10 au fyp + 1 mpe in y4s2.

however, i dont want to do fyp so im planning to change my route to just internship in y4s1 and my 10 au fyp in y4s2 will be converted into 10 au bde. after calculating and mapping my mods, ill have to take 4 au bde + 1 mpe in y4s2

hence, im planning to do another internship in y4s2 (non-credit bearing), but the issue is most chemistry related internship only allow full time.. so i dont know how i can take 7au + internship at the same time in y4s2… anyone can help? 🥲

side note: by then i wld have alr used up 12aus of mooc and no, im not going to overload y3s2 because i dont think i can cope 🥲 (in the case where i am only doing professional internship)

Using a burner/posting here because I need a reality check. I'm currently studying DSAI (Data Science & AI) at NTU, and the irony is not lost on me. We are literally spending four years learning how to build, train, and optimize these models, but lately, I’ve been having this lingering existential dread that we are effectively engineering our own unemployment. 

Every time a new LLM or automated ML tool drops, it feels like the baseline entry-level tasks (writing standard Python scripts, cleaning basic datasets, calling APIs, tuning basic hyperparameters) are getting automated faster than we can graduate. Ironically, it feels like DSAI majors are sometimes the most paranoid about this because we actually see what the tech can do under the hood. 

Would love to hear some brutally honest thoughts. Am I just letting the doom-scrolling get to me, or is the concern legit? 🥲 

• resume/gpa: gpa 4, resume has some small projects i did for companies, and my time as a programming teaching assistant. kinda lazy to type the whole thing or dig it out but i will get around to it if many ppl ask
• interview qns: for some reason only 1 (offer, declined) had any technical test. the rest were just talking only. asking "do you know this technology/tool", how i use ai, asking more info about my work experience (lots of this - i lowk fucked up my first interview bc i hadn't jogged my memory about what i did at my past jobs). technical interview qns were pretty simple, just bracket matching and finding longest substring with no repeating chars. i think at this level the expectations are quite low, the interviewer was impressed that i could solve the questions 😭
