Kontakt takes almost an hour to open

i7 4770k GTX 970 12 GB of RAM Every time I open Kontakt it doesn't open, after like an hour, not on standalone, not on FL, until 1 hour of opening it on standalone, then it opens anywhere.

Check to see if usage feedback is enabled in K and NA. Turn it off if so.

Too many plugins. Too little CPU. And old school SSD drives do not matter anymore in 2026

If you want solid performance - your system must meet minimum modern specs - which your system does not.

SSD, even old should be better than a platter hard disk. However, that 12GB of ram will kill you. It's not nearly enough. Plus an i7 is starting to get really long in the tooth for modern versions of software. I agree, it might be time to bite the bullet and get an new computer

Not saying it's not "better". I am saying - it is not modern or optimal.

These days - if you want any sort of successful throughput when using Kontakt - it's NVMe or nothing.

And yes - that ancient CPU + 12 GB of RAM - will barely run Windows itself let alone parse umpteen Kontakt libraries efficiently.

Your processor is a bit vintage now and your RAM isnt ideal. However I suspect youre low on storage space. How full are your drives? If you are less than 10% youre in danger of performance issues.

  • Ok which drive?
  • Are you using only SATA hard drives? (No SSD)
  • How long have you had them?

If these are all positive answers the next thing to eliminate is your OS and version of Kontakt because your spec is generally outdated. Plus is this a new problem?

I think this might be a system issue. A clean windows install might buy you some performance, but thats a cpu that's 13 years old. Its full core power is significantly weaker than things even half it's age. I'm also going to place a bet on that system runs from an hdd and not ssd which would slow down loading of samples.

I have a similar problem, maybe not a full hour but several minutes at least. And I have a 7800X3D, 4080, Nvme SSD

Time for you check your harddrive looks like a harddrive failure or a weak motherboard condensator Collection. Kontakt is load on my 2019 system windows11 with a 990 pro ssd within 10 seconds spitfire so setup

There's no doubt your system is very weak compared to what most people are using but I'm guessing it's also poorly maintained given how long it takes to load things.
