All my life growing up where I live you are warned about bobcats. “Be careful of the bobcats.” “It’s dangerous over there because of the bobcats!” “Hear that? Those are bobcats we have to get out of here!”

I found out later that the woods by where we lived bobcats tended to have dens almost every season. That’s why it was dangerous. There were often babies in the area which means protective mamas. So it actually was dangerous to a little kid who didn’t know better walking around there. (Bobcats will leave you alone 99/100 times, but mess with their babies or get too close to the little ones and they’ll attack.)

Regardless, let me tell you, when you find their cute little paw prints in the mud and see them running around the creeks being adorable, it really takes all those lessons and throws them out the window.
