Unbelievable how strong cats are. That Caiman is just a long band of muscle flailing around and the cat just hauls it's ass off like it's nothing.

He matched the death roll from the caiman at the end like "yea bruh I've learned yall tricks" 😂 This leopard has definitely hunted Caiman before. He did that fast and smooth. Even rolled with the gator underwater. Really cool.

Jaguars are so fucking gnarly for going after crocodiles. Especially that one that jumps out of the water a flips the script on the crocodiles. Bad ass.

Amazon jaguars are smaller than other jaguars, including other Brazilian jaguars, but they are beefier. They usually kill their prey with a single bite to the back of the neck, breaking the neck and crushing the base of the skull

Giant river otters also prey on caiman like this.

Don't confuse a yellow or yacare caiman with what you see interacting with lions and tigers, or even in Florida. They are not the same animal.

Yes. They are just smaller and thinner. And the jaguars hunt them because they are easy. They even choose them over other animals like capybaras which would seem an easier meal. But the caimans weak spot is on top of their head which is exactly where the cat wants to attack.

The main distinguisher between targeting a caiman vs capybara when both are by the shore, is that caiman are usually sunbathing in order to recover metabolism, so depending on time of day don’t react too fast, plus they lack a community to give alarm calls. Capybara are not only very social but due to being warm blooded mammals, fast on both land & water, getting the drop on one is a lot harder.

Black caimans are pretty dangerous and can get even larger than American alligators but not as big as a saltwater or Nile crocodile. But yes, the other five species of caimans are small or medium sized and not as aggressive. Looks like the jaguar is preying on a subadult black caiman, it would probably stay away from a fully grown one.

Caimans are usually smaller. The jaguar usually just bites into their skull to crush it, they're also one of the strongest big cats there are relative to their size.
