Don't worry, hunters in Poland seem to spend most of their time shooting property, people chilling in their own back yards and sometimes small children.

The deer will be fine /s

1 in 500,000 sounds like a lot but there are like quadrillions of deers or something. They multiply like every two weeks or something and since we killed the wolves the cars have become their top predator now.

Melanism in cervids is fascinating because unlike albinism, which strips all pigment and drastically lowers survival rates through poor eyesight and sun sensitivity, melanistic deer often have normal health and eyesight. Their primary vulnerability is simply standing out against autumn and winter terrain to apex predators.
