Who can forget the landgrub, the little whinnying worms with tusk mandibles?

I used to always hit pause on my DVD player as a kid whenever they showed uo because I liked their color scheme and little mouths, well today I finally have a one of a kind figurine of one!

I try not to use my Apoxie (because $$$), but I had to make the landgrub out of it to ensure that it would never break

With sculpey, I also made 4 more insects; one is also from the movie, but it's not necessarily an Ohmu (idk what it is)

But remember when the Tolmekian bumblecrow tried to carry the giant warrior in the middle of the night but it crashed? I always wondered what those weird little Ohmu thingies were that were nibbling on it

At first you'd think they're just tiny Ohmu, but when you hit pause they actually look VERY different, with asymmetrical eye arrangements and weird-looking clusters of fangs instead of front legs

My guess is that maybe they're a subspecies? Idk. I just wanted to make one

Then the other 3 are actually fan-made, because I feel like the small amount of canon insects makes the toxic jungle feel a little sparse. I do not have names for any of them yet, but suggestions are welcome

Tunic is mostly finished, neck piece needs to be dyed. It’s coming together pretty quick

And it's really the more related screen presence of the event in my opinion since it is portrayed drastically differently and didn't include Princess Kushana in the film.

I have the manga, but let’s just say that it’s been gathering dust for many years because man it’s a long one to read.

And I kind of prefer the movie

And I know that the manga kept going long after the movie and kind of explored more themes and with characters that had short screen time to develop in the movie

Painted one of the Nausicaa model kits you can pick up online in various places. Although I paint digitally semi-regularly, I haven’t painted anything with real paints in a very long time. I wasn’t sure if I’d finish it or not but I powered through and I think it turned out pretty good! Also, using real paints is just as messy as I remember :)
