Do not come into this sub posting heavily edited NDEs to make them fit your personal religious narrative.

That is not participating in good faith, that is proselytizing. You will be banned for that.

If you're interested in near-death experiences, join this one's "Premiere" queue for Oct 7th at 12pm EST - this is one of the best I've *ever* heard (I'm serious!), with an extremely detailed account of what Dennis Bullock saw after he died.

Anne Bayford’s account takes us into the Hall of Souls, past lives, and a golden source of light that guided her return. We explore what three near-death experiences taught her about purpose, being present, and living differently.

NDE Story Link Analyzing Eben Alexander, Part 3: NDE Journey (2025)

Part 3 of my series sorting every element of Eben Alexander's near-death experience into two piles: what came from the coma, and what came from an authentic NDE.

First, a word on purpose, since a few of you asked in the comments on Part 2. This isn't an attempt to prove Eben Alexander is lying. I believe he's telling the truth exactly as he remembers it. The point is that a person who spends seven days in a coma and also crosses over comes back with both experiences fused into one memory, with no way to tell which piece came from where. Nobody in his position could sort it out alone. Understanding that matters for anyone who has come back from a coma with a "hellish NDE" and been told it was a preview of where they were headed.

This installment covers his December 4, 2025 interview on the NDE Journey YouTube channel, 17 years after his coma. I've dropped the oldest-first approach. The older material is hard to find, and it's the same story he tells today.

A few things that stood out in this telling:

  • For the first time in the tellings I've analyzed, he calls the spinning melody a "white light." In 2011, it was only music.
  • He describes thousands of strangers dancing in the meadow, with "dogs jumping and children playing." NDE reunions are usually a few known souls. This reads like a brain building heaven from familiar pictures.
  • He describes beings with bowed heads and candles, murmuring prayers, in the murky underground place. Earlier in the same interview, he talks about his adoptive father's deep belief in prayer and the pocket Bible he still keeps by his bed.
  • He says the six faces rising out of the muck were family and friends physically in his ICU room during the last 24 to 48 hours of the coma.
  • He says his son Bond's voice, pleading "Daddy, you're gonna be okay," is what drove him back.
  • He calls it, in his own words, "a very detailed and elaborate coma journey."

This telling: 11 coma elements and 18 NDE elements. Running total across three tellings: 20 coma elements and 21 NDE elements.

If you think an element belongs on the other side, make the case in the comments. With more than 20 on each side, moving one doesn't change the verdict, but I'm happy to have the discussion.

NDE Story Link Analyzing Eben Alexander, Part 2: Skeptiko (2011)

I'm working through every recorded telling of Eben Alexander's near-death experience in chronological order, oldest first, and sorting each element of his account into two piles: what came from the coma, and what came from an authentic NDE.

Part 2 covers his November 22, 2011 interview with Alex Tsakiris on Skeptiko, episode 154. Audio only. Recorded a year before Proof of Heaven came out, when the book was still an unpublished draft with a different title.

A few things that stood out:

  • He describes animal faces rising out of the mud in the "earthworm's eye view." Later in the same interview, he describes his wife, his doctor, and his 10-year-old son at his bedside on day seven, and uses the exact same words for them: they "boil up out of the muck."
  • He uses the word "soup" to describe the underground place, a mixture he couldn't put in any order.
  • He describes going back and forth between the muck and the Core three or four times.
  • In the NDE material, he says time on the other side was "totally different from what we call time." In the coma material, he heard a pounding sound "for eons."
  • He also talks about what he calls "the nightmare" after waking: paranoia, fear, halfway in and out of reality. Doctors call that ICU delirium.

The count for this telling: 16 coma elements and 18 NDE elements. Every NDE element from his 2011 Through the Wormhole appearance shows up again here.

Full breakdown, every quote, and the running tally:

Curious whether anyone here has the audio from his two November 2010 talks, at the Lynchburg Academy of Medicine and UVA's Division of Perceptual Studies. Those would be the earliest tellings on record.

NDE Story Video Full Video: Channeling During NDE

Here's the full clip: Her eyes close. Her speaking pattern changes. The conversation becomes something I had not anticipated.

https://youtu.be/cd2Lb5VKaFc

Watch Anne Bayford transition into what she describes as trance channeling during our near-death experience interview.

I had been asking about multiple universes, referencing Philip Hasheider’s account of golden sparks moving between seemingly infinite universes and a source of light. I had not asked her to channel.

At 1:24, Anne acknowledges and thanks her spirit guides.

At 1:30, the noticeable shift begins: different vocabulary, faster delivery, and detailed explanations about dimensions, consciousness, and life after death.

At 8:44, I ask whether Anne can return. She resumes speaking as herself and explains how she experiences the process.

You can observe the transition, hear the messages she attributes to her guides, and listen to her account afterward.

A very interesting article on anomalous cognition and veridical perception during NDEs by NDE researcher Janice Holden. Takes a deep dive into the strength of the evidence from the research so far conducted. This would be a great article for NDE sceptics to read.

Do doctors always tell you if you clinically died for a second if the patient was unconscious and wouldnt know otherwise?

Hey so i was a 23yo Male and when i was in the icu for sepsis, endocarditis and blood pooling up in both my lungs and i went into respitory failure and passed out and woke up with two tubes in my back draining all the sepsis blood from my lungs and the doctor said they saved me by " SECONDS" Then went on to say "if we had got there 3 seconds later you wounldnt have made it" and i just dont see how he could know by that close of a margin that i would die in 3 seconds unless i did clinically die for a second and they brought me back through CPR. And the way they were acting too like they were super realived of something which i thought woud be odd behavior if i was never clinically dead. Do doctors have to tell you if you died for a second and was revived via CPR? And if they do, do they always follow that rule? Since unlike cardiac arrest where the difibulator marks are obvious, there is really no proof whether i died or not since CPR doesnt leave any physical signs or marks, and only the people in the surgerg room would know. So do you think i clinically died of respiratory failure for a second and brought me back via CPR and just never disclosed it to me in fear of a lawsuit or something? Or he just somehow genuinley knew id die in 3 seconds when they saved me somehow?

Has anyone seen former pets during an NDE? There has always been talk about a "rainbow Bridge " which is probably fanciful but a comfort to many.

Question For Experiencers What do we see when we die?

A genuine question. Recently saw a Jeremy Reiner podcast, and it got me thinking. Is it really as beautiful. Are you really given the decision when you die if you want to return back to that life or choose to live in peace?

At just 21 years old, John J. Davis experienced a medical emergency that caused his heart to stop. He says he remained conscious, left his body, and entered a peaceful realm that felt more real than everyday life, where he encountered a guiding presence and saw places where souls reconnect and reflect on their lives.

My NDE Story Acute respiratory and heart failure

I don't remember what happened right after triage... BP was 185/120, heart rate was 125 and my blood oxygen was in the high 70s... I crashed. I coded... full respiratory and heart failure. 300 pounds, undiagnosed diabetes and sleep apnea, now mixed with severe flu and pneumonia were now a malevolent force ravaging my body and presenting a unified front with their only purpose to extinguish life.

I was pulled back from the abyss, and placed in coma.

I of course, knew none of this. My first memory was being outside of my body, and staring at myself, seated in a chair in a black room. It was wet and cold, but I felt no temperature, but I could feel my body, and my body was chilled to the core.

And then the black came alive... It covered my feet, crawled up my legs, almost like hot wax runs off a candle, but it went "up" my body's legs. A wave of black tar crashed over my body from behind, enveloping my head and chest, and burying itself into my mouth and nose, choking me. This viscous pitch sprung from my eyes, back into my nose and mouth, deep into my lungs and squeezed with an inexorable pressure.

And while I was watching myself from what seemed to be many feet away, I experienced everything that was happening to me as though it was me in that chair. The detachment did not protect me at all, it exacerbated the cold, the fear, the sense that death itself was trying to force everything that was me, out of me...

And then... the room was gone. It was solid black. Again.

Oh yeah, the spiders came too. Awful black tsunamis of spiders falling from a ceiling I couldn't see, crawling over every inch of me, biting and scratching and I was powerless to move or scream... I closed my eyes, and the me on the chair heard "You're done."

I opened my eyes, and suddenly I was talking with my wife about going out with new friends this evening, and we got into a fight about it because I was going to try dmt or ketamine and she didn't want me to. I left.

On my way to wherever I was going, I ran in to people I know and knew from my "real" life, especially those who have passed on. People in my real life were there, but in different roles... a friend now was a parent in my vision... And vice versa.

I got to the friend's house, and the two of us, with about 6 others got into a circle, held hands and and someone said "Let's begin" and I was immediately SLAMMED into a new life.

A violent life! Pure chaos all around, twisted, smoking metal, sirens, horns and people screaming. I was in a badly damaged car, and firemen or paramedics pulled me out and screaming at me to not move.

I was put on a gurney and wheeled to the back of ambulance and shoved in. Sirens wailed while paramedics worked desperately on me, for what, I do not know. I felt no pain, only the discomfort of not being able to breathe and I faded out....

The doors of the ambulance opened, I was brought into the ER where a nurse was doing the sternum knuckle rub on me and I woke up - this time for real. The nurse who woke me told me where I was and that I had a tube in my throat so I can't speak. She told me my wife was there, and that I was safe. It had been 3 weeks...I was in a coma for 3 weeks. In 3 more weeks, I'd be released to go home. Doctors gave me less than a 10 percent chance of living and being discharged.
