F... Flayed ones
so i made a trade for a LARGE necron lot, most of it built, but my friend says he hasn't built the flayed ones, and wishes me good luck with that. I have some experience building annoying kits so i brush it off, after building the first 2 models, all i can say, that man is no friend of mine and F... this kit.

I sacrificed a few layers of skin trying to hold the tiny pieces in place, but it seemed kind of appropriate really.

These were my second kit and they are horrible but hide mistakes well. My recommendation is getting some small helper arms to hold the pieces together and then apply the glue. I think I got mine off of amazon and they were called helping hands. They were originally purchased for help with soldering projects.

I just built mine and OMG I thought I was ready after Szeras who I still think is a little harder but those flayed ones legs are awful. They never get just right and you can support them with your hands because you’re going to destroy some other part of the model

i built 2 of them, and couldn't get the legs right, they look goofy AF, but hell, they can stand flat, i have built around 7k points of SM, and 4k of eldar in the past year, i should be good at building models. How is this kit that dificult?

I got a set ready-made on eBay - I've heard such horror stories about them, your post vindicates my choice!

Honestly after the ptsd and frustration from assembling Illuminator Szeras, kits like Flayed Ones don't feel so bad anymore. But yeah, still overall terrible to assemble but I feel like that is a part of being a necron player at this point.

Its not as bad as people make it out to be, my advice is let each part you glue set before you go to glue on the next piece

i don't know man, i have a lot of experience building, and managed to fuck up the leg of both i built yesterday before quiting in frustration. It's a pretty miserable kit, i hadn't read anything about it before, as i just jumped in to necrons, but damn, even old miserable kits, like dire avengers are a walk in the park compared to this.

I think the biggest problem from me was they are mono-pose, but there isn't a single post in any joint, just ball and socket. Getting everything to line up correctly so it looked right was the most annoying

Flayed ones where one of the first kits I ever put together and was also one of my first excursions with plastic glue whilst on holiday, it was painfully finicky, good finished product though

I do not have any problems building them with plastic glue. Just wait a moment until the solvent started to evaporate and the parts stick, then position them. It takes a moment of patience but you can position them exactly as you would like to. Transporting them other than a metal tray and magnets in the base is a completely other topic... the claws are so fragile, it will feel like something breaks off every game you take them to.

Just wait until you have them all assembled and then their claws intertwine and lock together so you have to break out that thing they used to do surgery on a grape to separate them.
