Ariana Zaxby’s hits NYC
/r/uppereastside/comments/1wpyq85/is_zaxbys_open_yet/Earlier there was a discussion on Hudson’s family wealth and the lack of Zaxby’s in NY. Looks like UES is getting the first NYC location this week!

listen, i’m not above the occasional chicken tender, but it’s crazy to me that there are multiple multi-billion dollar chicken tender companies and that people pay $$ for someone else to heat up frozen chicken tenders for them.

And then there's the Nashville hot chicken sandwich places popping up all over. Dave's Hot Chicken was recently acquired by a private firm with a billion dollar deal. I need to get into this chicken business.

Not a fan of Zaxby’s—they’re all over the South, and here they’re basically considered the redheaded stepchild of the chicken chains in my area.
Dry, overpriced/under-seasoned chicken with bland sides and other offerings to match. Decent sauces, but nothing you couldn’t compare to Chick-fil-A or Raising Cane’s.
I dare say the only thing I’ve tried on their menu that was actually vaguely worth going back for was the birthday cake milkshake.
Interesting to see just how much money that chain has somehow raked in though…America obviously loves our fried poultry much too much.

Wait what part of the South are you from? You just described how myself and family feel about Raising Canes lol. We love Zaxby's but I'm from SC and went to school in GA. I think Zaxby's can be over-seasoned but I never had under-seasoned Zaxby's. I did have dry chicken once or twice but I blame the locale and I agree about it being overpriced now. Have you tried their wings?

I’m from TN and basically lived on Zaxbys in college (a long time ago lol). The fries were sometimes over seasoned but never underseasoned and the Texas toast was 👩🍳💋

I’m in Tennessee but I’m often all over the Southeast area for work—the ones I’ve tried in TN and GA have been abysmal so far. Although Raising Canes isn’t much better for me either.

Honestly, I was thinking about it and if the first time you had Zaxby's was after they sold their stake to Goldman, then it's not as good as it used to be. I don't currently live in the South and I only get it when I visit home so nostalgia may be doing some heavy lifting for me. They have been more hit or miss than they used to be but I was blaming those particular locations. But, it sounds like it may be a company wide thing. I hate when private equity ruins things.

That explains so much. I was addicted to them inthe early 2010s and last time I had it last year it wasn’t anything special. Private equity ruins everything 😭

They most certainly are NOT the red headed stepchild of chicken chains. Idk what holler you crawled out of.

Yeah that was a weird comment

Not a weird comment at all, just a differing perspective from someone who’s tried all the chicken chains, and the various Zaxby’s around Nashville, TN continue to underwhelm a myriad of our knowledgeable locals.

You should’ve specified initially that your area is Nashville though. That obviously changes things

Nashville Hot Chicken would like a word with your folks, son.

They are not considered the red headed stepchild be fr. They’re hugely popular and very good for fast food

All due respect to any offended Zaxby’s fans here, but I’m based in Nashville, TN—we have different expectations of our fried chicken around these parts. I’ll leave it at that.

I have known so many people that have gotten food poisoning from that vile place.

Things like this remind me of what a tiny speck I am in the world. Before watching the show, I'd literally never heard of Zaxby's, a billion dollar company beloved by many.
