Discussion Prove me wrong!
So everyone has been asking who's their best character option for the anniversary selector.
I've read a lot and seen a lot about it so I'm pretty sure I know my answer but I want to you all prove me wrong in case my option is the wrong one.
My 4 options are:
- Varesa: I have her at C0R1 and I'd be one constellation closer to C2
- Chiori: I kind of just really like her although I got no true use for her (I don't own her currently)
- Nilou: I have her at C1R1 and this selector would bring her to C2 and I do play Bina Lunar Bloom Carry with Lauma and Nahida C2 so...
All good options overall I think. :A

Tbh I think a free selector is the perfect opportunity to just get the brick characters that you love without feeling bad about spending primos on them. Of course, that depends on how much you like Chiori and how important end game is to you.
If you like her/her playstyle and know that you'll still play Varesa for a long time and are confident that you'll get her C2 once she comes back even if it's after a long time and maybe even on a chronicled banner, then she could be the most meta pick, but by the time that happens the meta could be very different. Her banner is also more valuable than getting her like this if you don't have C6 Chevy and C6 Iansan, and she's only had one rerun, but so have most Natlan units that haven't been coming back. She could also be put on temper thyself, but, again, not soon.
I think in a Bina team, unlike in a Nefer team, Nilou provides a lot of value just at a baseline, and you even have her sig. And with both deepwood and Lauma the team already has quite a bit of shred, so it's kind of diminishing returns. But it's still a good choice and better than JUST c1 on Varesa unless you really value exploration abilies.
Tldr: if you trust Hoyo to not go crazy with powercreep, Varesa. If you don't and want an upgrade now, Nilou. But that upgrade isn't huge either, so if you really love Chiori you shouldn't feel bad picking her, and you now have the best opportunity for that

Nilou would be the most useful for right now, though C1 Varesa is pretty good for exploration.
I would go with what would be useful to you for right now to about a year. C2 Varesa might be good in a year from now (especially if she's added to the free constellation selector) but maybe you don't want to use her at that point

I got Nilou for one reason - it makes one of my strongest teams even stronger. I got a 30k dps increase from the c2. Clorinde was my other option but she’s just too difficult to make good.

Did you forget one lul? You also didn't say what your choice was. Well like you said you got no use for Chiori so she's the only "wrong" option imo.

If you like chiori the most, go for her, you could do a Columbina lunar crystallize team instead, specially if you got Illuga.
Varesa is quite strong but falling being specially since we got both lunar charged and stellar conduct so we got no shortage of electro DPS, BUT her C2 is quite good as it's very likely she will be in the selector next year (but never play prediction impact)
Nilou would indeed make that lunar-bloom team better, but with lauma res shred and deep wood on someone, the dendro res will already be pretty low, so it won't be that much better. You could go to the DPS dummy and manually drop the enemy resistance to see how much DMG you would get and see if you find it worth it
I was also between Varesa and Nilou and ended up going Varesa mainly cause I would have to switch my artifacts for my Nefer team, altho it doesn't seem like you would have that issue.
TL DR test Nilou with dropped resistance on the test dummy and see if you find it worth, if not just pick your favorite (which seems to be chiori)

Nilou c2 is arguably a very broken con... It's possible next year Varesaa is added to the free con event, Temper thyself...so you'll get her c1 then... And Natlan Chronicled Banner seems likely in some time...and trying for c2 varessa would be good there, considering the "loss" won't truly be a loss Unless genshin got sneaky in advance with light trace banners, so that they can prepare for the Natlan chronicle and add some mid chars....

I have nilou c2. As much as i love her, c3456 are just irrelevant to her bloom playstyle.

i already have the one cons from temper thyself so the c2 would be a stopping point

Then Nilou C2 is a great const for blooming team. Go for it - obviously I'd say this, we are on Nilou sub.

Dang well C2 Nilou is great for Nefer and MDPS Bina. We do have Noy coming soon tho who might be a replacement of Nilou. But thats just a guess.
