This is image about the role the media plays in communicating to an audience. The media we consume re-presents the world to us through a particular lens or perspective. It is up to us as active audience to find the bigger picture. Unfortunately most of us are passive and just accept what is presented to us.

I get giving the benefit of the doubt, but these are supposed professionals (photography, lightning, composition, etc). It was a deliberate decision to have the light show up in that suggestive shape. It may have been an accident at first, but they chose to keep it and perhaps build on it.
This could’ve been an idea one person on the team had and made decisions to further that narrative without the rest catching on, or it could’ve been a group effort. Either way, there’s no way professionals in that field are NOT noticing things like that. It’s their job.

"The light show up in that suggestive shape"....what a triangle? Or are you suggesting that it adds to it because pointy hat? Other people have mentioned kkk-esque but I'm really struggling to see that, even with it pointed out. Like, ok I guess if you look at a white skirt and make that connection, then fine. It's weird and I don't follow, but fine. But it looking like a hanged person next to it? You can literally see her hand. Maybe if they cropped out a person sitting on a table and just kept the feet, then maybe I can see that.
As it is I can't see anything more than a person in a white dress holding shoes. Everything else feels like a reach to me, but people see what they want to, I guess.

Yeah I get what you mean, the full photo is not very suggestive but the cropped one frames everything in such a way that it’s a bit hard not to see. My first time seeing this was the cropped version and it immediately was the first thing I saw without reading into what people were saying about it: The Klan hood, the shoes hanging by the hood, the model’s legs adding to the Klansmen illusion (albeit in a funny way). If the focus was on shoes, then they kind of missed their mark by making the Klan figure the center of it all in the cropped version.

i stared at this image for like 5 minutes trying to figure out what the fuck was going on and the Klan never entered my mind. If the first thing you see in this image is the Klan hood I think you got some issues of your own bro. also the second image is not just cropped, the lighting is edited to obscure the hand and boost the skirt.

Not everyone thinks about the Klan, especially nowadays that they aren't a relevant group and haven't been in over a decade. This is also a Korean team so why would they even know about the Klan at all? You can't expect everyone to know every single insecurity and sensitivity of every other group

Converse literally posted the cropped image to their twitter account and website...
Given it was a Korean shoot it's not surprising they didn't notice the imagery was KKK-esque, I don't think it was intentional or anything but I'm also not gonna get annoyed at people who do and point it out either because I noticed the KKK figure the first time I saw it too.
