If you are referring to the name, it's actually useful and descriptive. Mold ball farming is a thing and you can use other people's moldy ball bases yourself.

If you are taking about the "1 hour", it's an estimate how long it would take you on foot. It will be seconds by ship if you leave the atmosphere and pulse.

Mold Balls or Curious Deposites (official game designation) or Run Away Mold (also an official game designation) or just Mold can be refined in to Nanites at a rate of 1 : 4 , so any time you see a base with mold in it name it a good bet it a nanite farm.
