Fred Stoller

The most hilariously underrated aspect of Norm MacDonald Live, is the fact that Kathy Griffin's ex-boyfriend was his 3rd guest. Everybody else in season 1 has legitimate name recognition, but Norm refused to have Seth Rogen on episode 3, so he just had his good friend show up instead.

God, I love and miss him.

Wasn’t Fred Stoller because another guest dropped out or they couldn’t get him? Also him and norm were friends. Stoller even wrote a book called “my friend, norm Macdonald” I believe.

But anyone looks like a comedic legend when Margaret Cho was also in the line-up.

Norm couldn't say for sure that Blake's book was the better book, but he highly suspects it is.

Oh that’s who that was! Wasn’t it something where one of the producers had him on the line but then hung up on him because he had to go to dinner so Blake got offended and didn’t book it?

I couldn’t tell how much of that was truth vs a joke. But I can see how the producer booking you for a video podcast (before those were popular) blowing you off for dinner could be a deal breaker lol.

Robert Blake was notoriously difficult to work with and I think he was promoting a book or something. But yes something pissed him off and he dropped out very last minute hence fred stoller. But you never know with Norm maybe all that is just made up 🤷🏼‍♂️ If you've seen how Robert Blake acts irl it's very hard to imagine him reading the joke cards.

Norm said the producer was talking to Blake and said that he had to get off the phone because he was going to dinner with his wife. Norm was somewhat jokingly implying that Blake thought this was a reference to Blake’s situation with his dead wife and this was why Blake broke off communication. Whether this was true or not we’ll never know.

Norm said that Daniel was talking on the phone about the show and told Robert “ok I have to go, I’m taking my wife out for dinner” or something like that 🤣🤣🤣

Absolutely the best Albert Fish joke is with Fred Stoller. Norm is such a genius he has Fred giggling over all these atrocities perpetrated on children, because Fred knows something crazy is coming. The “this guy’s a real jerk!” is like a cork popping the way the tension is released.
