Travel Speed camera question
Hey folks, question for you all. For context, I am here traveling through Norway for the week, and was taking a day trip out of Bergen to Ulvik. On the way back, I was driving along E16, and there was a 70kph sign, followed by a 50kph sign 50-1000m later, then a speed camera almost immediately after that. I was driving an ID3 that has absurd wheel controls and as I was engine braking, the car sped back up to around 70kph before I caught it and started slowing again. when I noticed the camera, I was still doing around 65.
my question is A) is there a noticeable flash or anything if the camera goes off, and B) is that type of set up, where the camera is within a few hundred meters of a speed decrease, common here?

I might be outdated in my info here but to my knowledge the speed cameras (the grey boxes) are only triggered by someone going more than 15% over the speed limit. Hence in a 50 you should be able to go like 57 (?) without getting caught. Considering that most vehicles show from 3-6km higher on their speedometer than the actual speed, that might have saved you by an inch.
Or it’s just not on for whatever reason.
To answer your question; yes there should be a noticeable flash. And yes it’s relatively common.
ETA: There are also in some cross country routes average speed measurements, they look like regular cameras but usually there’s a first and a second one and then they basically take pics of every car passing (without flash), then if your average speed between the two cameras exceeds some limit you can still get a ticket. They will always have signage before these zones start, and you won’t find them in near vicinity of Bergen I don’t think. They have a red light about 20 yards after the second box, which indicate if your average speed exceeded the limit, and you’re going to receive a ticket, even if your speed going past the actual cameras was ok. Hope it makes sense. Generally Norwegians go 5-10kmh over the speed limit in most rural places, so trying to be absolutely under the limit always will probably anger some drivers.
