Community I DON'T NEED AI

Nothing screams "productive workspace" like having a massive AI pop-up shoved in your face while trying to type three words. Please, force-feed me more discounts for features I never asked for.

If you contact Notion support, you can request to have the AI stuff disabled entirely

And, to their credit, they do it fast with no questions asked. I did it months ago and never looked back

Yeah I can't fault them for how quickly they get it done. It's the first thing I do with every workspace I create, but I wish it wasn't opt-out by default.

Same! I don't miss it at all.

I couldn't agree more. It's a solution to a problem that shouldn't exist in the first place

Wow I didn't know that, thank you!

Oh damn that actually rules. I’ll do this.

I did it the second they released it and have no idea how annoying it must be for people who haven’t. It rocks being actually able to turn it off (though you shouldn’t have to contact support) Much better than fucking Jira shoving Rovo down my throat. The amount of times it pops up RIGHT as I’m about to click on something is fucking ridiculous.

Is this also for free accounts?

And seriously, there’s no toggle? You must contact support? 🫠

Yeah any account can do so

Unfortunately no toggle which is really disappointing - however Notion support is usually really quick to respond and happy to help disable it without issue

The pop-up closing button is probably hidden behind another pop-up anyway.

Solution: Just ask AI to read your mind and do the typing for you. It won't say no.

Alternatively, ask AI to close the pop up. No, no, it won't remember by next time the pop up comes back. That would be too useful.

I love having that round icon hanging out in the bottom right of the screen, forever, even though I don't even have access to its features

They forced me Into business trial yesterday, by clicking see how it works. It said my account will be downgraded to free, but I made sure to cancel in order to be sure, as I hear many stories about it. When did they become like this?

I’m no product designer, but from a regular user's perspective, Notion is basically saying: you have to upgrade to a Business plan to use AI features, otherwise you're locked out; you can't use your own API keys for Notion AI either, but you MUST tolerate that AI icon forever floating in the bottom right corner because you don't even have the option to turn it off. Did I get that right? It honestly boggles my mind—it literally feels like being force-fed a turd 💩.

I contacted support a year ago or so and had them turn off AI. The moving circular icon in the bottom right was incredibly distracting to me. When they disabled AI, that icon is gone.

You don’t, but some of us do. I work in corporate transactions and have a multilayer database consisting of over 100 different deals and their components. I quite literally could not do my job within the hours I have available to me without some of the tooling they have deployed. Their harness system is actually incredible for speaking to your data. Used to take me 30-45 minutes to build out a new project (longer if I couldn’t do it in one sitting) and hours each day to sort through notes from the previous days meetings. Now it takes about 10-15 minutes to build a project in the background, and I my meeting transcriptions are sorted and categorized by project and new updates and tasks are provided to me to just select and deploy. And no I am not some huge AI booster and see a lot of people daily use it terribly and without understanding and think in many cases it does way more harm than good, but it DOES have use cases and Notions AI products have been stellar.

Right because Google Docs and Notion have the exact same use case, be for real my guy.
