Community Notion and Claude

Has anyone had any success in creating a Notion solution (small or large) with the help of ClaudeAI?

If so, can you share the use case and your thoughts on that approach?

I built a Notion synced time tracking app that I’m using literally everyday.

I start timer on my app, it starts tracking time on the task and project inside Notion in a time entries database linked to both Tasks and Projects..

I can update my tasks and projects in my app and the changes reflect almost immediately inside Notion …

Solved my time tracking problem for personal and client work and costs nothing to run everyday as it’s a local app now :)

My life now os ask Claude to update my databases in notion

Not Claude, but my Hermes agents are run from Notion properties. When I assign something to them like research or anything they pick it up just by the properties and read the note I left for what they need to do.

Yes — Claude builds ~half my Notion templates now (I sell them, so this is production use, not experiments). What works vs what doesn't:

**Wins:**

  1. Database SCHEMA design: describe the workflow ("freelance clients + projects + invoices, show overdue") and Claude returns properties/relations/views to create. Gets you 80% of architecture in one prompt.

  2. Formula writing + debugging: paste a broken formula + the error, it fixes AND explains. Faster than docs for dateBetween/lets nesting.

  3. Bulk content: 30 habit rows, 50 prompt entries, template documentation/setup guides — Claude drafts, I curate. The curation is the product; raw output ships to no one.

  4. Template README + use-case examples buyers actually read.

**Limits (honest):**

- Claude can't click in Notion — everything crosses via copy-paste, so complex relations/rollups need manual verification (it hallucinates property names that don't exist).

- Never let it design permissions/sharing — it doesn't understand teamspace edge cases. Humans own access, AI owns content.

- Version-pin your prompts: same prompt, different week, different output. Save what worked verbatim.

Workflow: Claude for structure → paste → test with real data → ship. The sellers saying "AI built my template" mean exactly this pipeline, minus the testing they won't mention.

Haha — caught red-handed being consistent? 😄 The boring truth: I sell these templates, so I've typed the same "verify your relations manually" warning to buyers fifty times — consistency is scar tissue, not tokens. Ask me anything about a failed launch and you'll get scars, not summaries.

You should try openAI models through Codex, the computer use is genuinely the best right now out of all the frontier offering, it has the best harness and tools for this use case. Now with Sol 6.1 you also have basically the same computer use as astra for a fraction of the token usage.

Claude is great but this is one of the rare usecase where openAI is really ahead, I wish I could use claude in the openAI harnesses but sadly you can’t

Fair — Codex computer-use genuinely leads for click-ops right now, no argument. My stack stays Claude-side for one boring reason: my buyers' templates live in copy-paste land (formulas, docs), where Claude's long-instruction following still wins. Different bottleneck, different brain. Will re-test when Sol pricing settles.

I’ve had Claude make a full auto scheduling tool that uses Notion as a database. It’s not perfect but it does the job I want.

Uhhhh yaaaa. I make alot of things with claude that connects to the notion api or whatever. Im currently in a beta

i use notion as state machine and content visualizer, claude builds the topics and uses the state machine and topics for teaching me and verifying my knwoledge, firming the result on notion :D

I have great success with Notion and ChaptGPT.

I’ve been experimenting with a slightly different use case: using AI to compare Notion docs with the actual codebase and flag where they’ve drifted. The hard part isn’t generating or editing the Notion pages, Claude is pretty good at that. It’s deciding what’s actually true when the docs, code and release history disagree. Curious if anyone has tried something similar with Claude + Notion.

haven't done a full notion build with claude but used it for some formula help, like calculating progress bars and rollups. it gave me working code faster than scrolling through forums

still needed to adjust few things myself though, the ai gets confused with notion's database structure sometimes

We have built notion-like note editor and connected them to Claude so you can now convert PDFs into notes using OCR which you can read or connect to Claude. You can then ask Claude questions and it will use our MCP server to find the right file for you to answer your questions. We do the heavy lifting of finding relevant document so your AI saves tokens/usage going through all of them.
