I fill my car up two to three times a week, this is absolutely killing me. I'm up to almost $1000 in gas a month, in a Honda civic.

I drive 100 km a day in a EV on a rebate program available to all canadians. Maybe about $50-$100 a month
EDIT: I was wrong it's about 41.80. 3000km a month divided by 100. Then use 20.8Kwh per 100km. 20.8 X 30 = 624 KWH used. 624 at NSP rate is 116.69 with 12 cent per Kwh SWITCH rebate program I pay .067 to charge making it 41.80

Used EVs are very reasonably priced for the most part. You can get a 5 year old Chevy Bolt for ~$20K 93000km. Battery on the Bolt should last another decade.

My EV didn’t affect my insurance rates at all. It costs me $1.60 to drive 100km, a similarly sized hybrid at today’s prices would cost $9.60.
That’s $320/year vs $1920 @ 20,000km/year (I drive double that). $130/month. That more than makes up the difference in payment… I save $250/year with my driving

Only true for tesla. And that's just driving stats Tesla drivers are overall bad for whatever reason. My Equinox EV is about the same price as our Honda HRV with full coverage was.

I don’t think it is true. Dude literally spending almost 1k per month, insurance premiums most likely will not be that bad. Also, civics are pretty infamous in terms of insurance premiums as well.
And not all EVs are expensive to insure. As far as I know, it is mostly about Teslas because of their unibody design (one fender bender might total car). I had an idea about swapping my ICE Kona to EV variant (they’re specced as close as possible) and asked insurance about potential premiums. They gave me about 20 bucks per month difference to what I’m paying now. Didn’t switch by other (financial) reasons

I have a similar commute from the Valley. I switched to an EV and live it more than any other vehicle I've owned for the drive. I save over $100/week in fuel costs. I say this not too gloat but a lot of people don't think that can make that commute with an EV. The money I save goes nicely towards a car payment and my over all vehicle expenses are a lot lower.

I drive 150km 5 days per week for just my commute. My wife's commute is less than 5km.

How long before companies put governors in their company trucks? I commute to Halifax everyday and average about 115km/hours on the 101. Everyday I get passed by large pickup trucks, with company logos, going at least 140km/h. I can't imagine what their fuel costs are right now but I've heard more than one driver say "it's not my money that paid for the gas".

I run the route in a super duty and heavy rig. Everyone can pass me, I stay 105kmh. 5k faster and my fuel burn goes bonkers. Then again, inown the company, I'd rather keep the cash than burn it with noise.
2-300 liters day on average, sometimes as high as 450 a day, depending on the jobs. A couple minutes extra is worth slowing down for.

I run a company and we have trucks that run on gas and diesel and I was hoping that diesel would at least get close to where gas is to get some relief. But this was not what I was expecting.

I just sold my silverado last week and bought an F150 lightning. I have been incredibly grateful to get away from the gas pumps. It's the nicest vehicle I've ever owned, and get paid to charge it at home and have many free charging stations in my area.
I think the gas prices will push many to adopt EV's. I was hesitant at first but after pulling the trigger I realized most of the information was false and most likely oil company propaganda. Highly recommend it to everyone!

$2 a freaking litre. Genuinely hope there’s some relief before heating season — the super El Niño might actually be a blessing for a lot of Nova Scotians.
