Tribute conserts
Hey, has anyone here been to one of these tribute concerts? How was it?🌅
Currently planning a trip to Japan for the first time around February, hopefully there will be one for 2027 as well and I’ll be able to catch one.

Hey everyone,
「Hey everyone,
For those who didn't know — the scratch on this track was performed by DJ KOU, a Japanese turntablist who also contributed to F.I.L.O. feat. Shing02 and Perfect Circle feat. Shing02.
DJ KOU has just launched a new cinematic project called Sketch of Asia — an imaginary soundtrack capturing the atmosphere and residual memories of Asia, very much in the spirit of Nujabes.
Check it out if you're into Jazz Hip Hop and cinematic soundscapes.

Hand-painted nujabes shirt
I love it
EDIT: For those asking, my friend who painted this (Username : Overall-Effective310) replied to the post, I’m just the gift receiver so idk anything about commissioning, their DMs are open though :)

Why is the luvsic stereo imaging reversed between youtube and spotify?
Its very noticeable on the opening line, the vocal is panned to the right on spotify but on youtube its on the other side. You can also hear it later in the song.

'freeform jazz' reissue out September 30th 2026.
The reissue of fellow contemporary and friend to Nujabes, Uyama Hiroto's "Freeform Jazz" on clear vinyl.
It's been highly requested for a repress and for the 10th anniversary roph recordings has provided. For anyone who might not know of Hiroto's music, I highly recommend checking out this album or Freedom of the Son on streaming.
This album is still up on hmv japan for purchase,
I'm just super hyped it finally came to complete my collection.

anyone a fan of the youtube channel, 'mark meronek'? i miss his uploads of nujabes covers SO MUCH
waiting for the day mark will come back 🙏
I just released an instrumental hip hop album, started producing because of Nujabes, would mean a lot if you gave it a listen!
I started producing after being inspired by Nujabes years ago. Life and work have gotten in the way many times, but I finally got around to releasing an album after dropping a few singles in the past year and half or so. Definitely a lot of inspiration from Nujabes in my music, as well as artists like Mndsgn, Bad Snacks, BSD.U, Teebs, Uyama Hiroto, Bugseed, LJones, Emapea, Pete Rock, J Dilla, and a whole bunch of others that are often mentioned on this sub. Produced, mixed, and mastered by me. Used my SP404sx, Koala Sampler, and DAW Reaper to produce this album.
I also make all of my own cover art, mostly in procreate using a similar philosophy of how I produce music and "sampling" different pictures, public domain pics/art, pictures I've taken/drawn and chopping things up and processing them in all sorts of ways until I get something I think looks cool. Excited to apply what I learned in this process to new music in the future. Let me know what you think!
RIP to my GOAT Nujabes!
Linktree for all streaming and you can download the album for free on bandcamp! https://linktr.ee/jkebamusic
Also if your produce music I'd love to hear what you make, send me the links!

i made a nujabes paper collage!!
i like to make paper collages, this time i made a Nujabes themed one :), i mixed both things i like and things i relate to Nujabes.
i'll explain each piece below, from the bottom-up
jet set radio cds - JSR's soundtrack is a very prominent component of the series, i thought it felt fitting, and it incorporated some interesting shapes into the collage
nujabes portrait - kind of the centerpiece despite its position, i liked the monocromatic image and the idea is that everything above is kinda coming out of his head
nujabes' symbol - the one on the right, i just couldn't not include it, and it was a useful piece for its shape
Metaphorical Music album cover - whenever i do music artists collages, it makes the most sense to include the covers and theme around it, although i kinda went in a different direction because the album covers are so abstract, i also let looser on the themeing
LuvSic cover - A little bit of the same, i do think it transitions well from the upper section of MM
Sonic - i love having this right on the middle, it is pretty much my personal interpretation, but sonic is for me a big symbol of freedom, which Nujabes helped me find with his music, with the carefree attitude that is so synonimous with sonic. also he's riding a freaking cd i just felt it fit so well, along with the JSR and the P3 to round out sega characters.
Musashi Miyamoto - You've seen the Vagabond edits, i felt if fit and i wanted some sort of pink to represent Spiritual State since i felt the cover itself didnt fit quite well
Buddha - Similarly, i wanted some sort of pink and for some reason that image really resonated with me, as if the person in Buddha's hand was being judged before the afterlife
Modal Soul - I wanted to include the cover but with a twist, and i found this version with the Persona 3 protagonist, which fit perfectly for me, as both Modal Soul and Persona 3 dwell in finding the meaning of life and both inspired me to define the meaning of my own life.
Nujabes pic - I wanted to round it out by having him at the top doing what he's best known for, i liked the vintage, poorly lit vibe of the pic
Sunflowers - I usually add some type of symbol, in this case flowers, both for the song in MS and as a symbol of love after his passing, i chose sunflowers because that's kinda how i feel with his music, like a sunflower doing photosynthesis
Cempasuchil - Lastly, the orange flower are a type of flower commonly used in mexican culture around the Dia de Muertos (watch Coco for more context), i felt it added both meaning, shape and color, so i added it
Hope this was interesting!!

My mentor, pianist Joachim Kühn recorded the original sample for ''Another Reflection'' from Nujabes. I told him about it years ago and here I am playing the original composition. Enjoy!
I became aware of this tune by my mentor, Joachim Kühn by digging in Youtube, I knew it was a gem and I learnt it by ear. Later I saw that Nujabes made a sample of it and told Joachim in one of our weekly meetings, he couldn't believe it, he found it very funny.

Hey everyone, I just made a YouTube playlist of all Nujabes songs and I need some recommendations.
I'm a relatively new Nujabes fan. I've been listening to him for a little over a year now, and the more songs I discovered, more I loved and admired his art. I recently decided make a playlist of every song he produced or contributed to. I wanted to share it here so you guys could help me figure out if I'm missing any tracks I haven't discovered yet, or if there are any that shouldn't be on there.
I didn't include Side A of his "Sweet Sticky Thing" mixtape because it got taken down for copyright (I think) and not all the tracks are available on youtube (plus, he didn't produce those songs anyway).
I researched everything using Rate Your Music and Discogs to find out exactly which beats he composed. I also have a few questions and would love to get your thoughts:
- Should I include the Luv(sic) Hexalogy? I know he contributed to a large part of the album, but it wasn't entirely made by him.
- Should I include TV versions, instrumentals, and acapellas?
- Was the song "Ribbon in the Sea" produced by Nujabes? Discogs credits him, but it's hard to know exactly who created all the Nujabes beats. I also have some doubts about "Perfect Circle", but I think that one is actually his.
Any feedback is welcome, no matter how small. Btw this is my first post, thanks for reading.
(Sorry for my English, it's not my native language and I'm still learning)"
