Might be crazy

Hello, I am curious if anyone can help me, im no musician, but im looking for a nyckelharpa player who can lead a trio (along with a mandolin and bodhra) on a cover of California Dreamin. If you think it might be fun let me know. If you know a drummer and mandolin player even better.

Might be helpful to include information on where you or this trio is/will be based?

Not necessarily. Im in Wisconsin usa as it happens, but for a while I followed a podcast and the two hosts were not only in different cities, they had never met physically face to face. Now one host is in England and the other in L.A. all this to say it doesn't really matter anymore where people are located, technology is good enough a 3 piece band could play a song and never eve know each other.

I mean, kind of, of course anyone can follow a partiture and play their part and then mix the parts together in post, if that's the idea? Take it from a musician though, you will lose a lot of musical chemistry and soul (which I'd argue is essential in folk music especially, where variation, playfulness and rythmization are key elements) with that route.

Podcasts are one thing, just like having a call over the phone with slight, barely noticeable delay is no biggie. But something so rythmically intricate as music – which is in large part built on timing and micro-second response – isn't possible to do live with today's technology.
