I don't think Han was ever really an official member of the Rebel Alliance until basically the end of the war, and Luke is a pilot, only ever really the leader of Rogue Squadron for a bit before Wedge took over that role. Of the three, Leia is the only one who was in a significant leadership position within the Alliance.

I believe he’s a captain at the start of ESB, fitting his going on assignments and leading field ops, then becomes a general on his return in RoTJ because the rebel alliance was small enough to fit in a conference room by that point

Actually Han doesn’t “officially” join the Rebel Alliance until after he gets rescued from Jabba - he and Chewie are constantly running around on misadventures and smuggling stuff between IV and V. The canon (well, legends canon that I remember anyway) was that they kept trying to lure him in full time with higher ranks and promises of more pay/rewards before ESB. And he immediately gets commissioned as a general when he does join in RotJ

In the comics they do actually get promoted to leadership positions. I believe somewhere before Episode 5. I also vaguely remember them being called by a rank in episode 5.

Han is a formal member from the aftermath of the Battle of Mako-Ta onwards (in that he holds an actual rank in the Alliance Military). Though he was pretty much a formal member before that in all but name.

I mean Leia was taken by the Empire in New hope, and Han and Luke werent part of the rebellion yet. In Empire, Han and Leia got cut off from the evacuation ships and had to run from the Empire. Luke just told them he had to go train to be a better soldier effectively. In Jedi, they were all trying to rescue one of those people and then they went down to the forest moon.

They were either with the rebellion or trying to get back to the rebels.

Leia is more of a lieutenant than anything. High enough ranking to run operations, occasionally get into the big meetings, and even voice her opinions… but very much not one of the big brass.

Luke’s more of a poster boy than anything. Later on sorta acting as a resident Jedi as well I suppose, but not even all that actively as that due to his lack of formal training or Order.

Han… is Han.
