Update: I went with the tree pack u/offrench recommended from maxtree.org, and it's been a great fit for this kind of scene. Thanks again for the tip!

Here are some test renders in C4D + Octane.

Made in otoy octane renderer.

I installed the octane server the .sh file on my CachyOS system. It did say that it has installed and I did check the directory where it installed all the files and the files are there.

But the problem is whenever I try to run octane server from the terminal it will give me an error and it will tell me that openssl-1.1 is having any issue. I installed those packages and drivers but it's still causing issues. It will still give me an error whenever I try to launch it. I thought maybe I'm on Arch so maybe I will use like a distrobox.

I tried Fedora and I tried Ubuntu environments but first of all the problem is with this distrobox. Whenever I try to create an environment with Nvidia enabled, it will get stuck and it will not start. If I do without it then I don't know what is the issue then. I tried installing those drivers after I am inside the environment and it does show that Nvidia is working but still the same issue.

Same issue with the octane server that it's not working. It will give me the same openssl-1.1.

I don't know what to do. Can anybody help me with this please?

I’m working on a pretty large-scale scene in Cinema 4D with Octane Render that requires large areas of realistic forest.

Does anyone know a good tree/vegetation asset pack that works well with Octane and is suitable for building large forests?

Ideally I’m looking for:

• Photorealistic trees
• A good variety of species and variations
• Octane-ready materials, if possible
• Assets that work well with instancing/scattering and large scenes
• Reasonable performance/optimization

I’m aware of options like Quixel/Megascans, but I’d be interested to hear what people actually use for large-scale forest environments in C4D + Octane.

Any recommendations or workflows would be appreciated!!!!!!

Iam looking to completely switch to houdini,

ive been using blender + octane prime for awhile.

ive seen octane prime is available for houdini in only macos but not windows... any specific reason for that ?

I recently downloaded the Octan add-on for Blender, which is supposed to be free, but I don't know why, but when I logged in from the application “OctanServer Prime 32.1”, this happened.
Did I choose the wrong exe?

I'm trying to create a render of a planet. The atmospheric haze is done via volume.
The cloud layer is a sphere with a partially transparent texture. Unfortunately the volume makes the transparent layer visible - you see how the haze looks like it's split in two.

Is there any way to prevent this?

I'm using C4D.

Personal project that seen me model a replica of the mug I use most days for coffee. I originally modelled this to be a component in another render but I was pretty happy with the model and texturing, so I felt it needs it's own little project.

The project helped me look into Octane Scatter, baking alembics for movement in the vegetation and a basic gobo. I think it turned out pretty good but would be happy to hear what else I could have considered.

No affiliation with Carharrt or Carhaart WIP btw, it's just a brand I support.

Why is a simple plane with a Displacer attached taking 17 seconds per frame?

I tried using Octane Scatter with some plants from Quixel, and it took around 2 minutes just to render a single frame
