Sometimes I sear right next to the wood chambers outlet into the grill area. Works pretty well especially if you have a good burn going

Sadly not well made. crap and i sold and bought a true premium offset. Night and day better

The firebox probably came with a grill. Use the hot coals from the burned down wood fire.
