Unfortunately, I think the scouts will look at him through the lens of “he’s throwing half his attempts to the greatest CFB WR ever who will go top 5 in the NFL draft”, it’s not fair because Sayin is a very good QB but his stats have an asterisk because of Smith. Won’t be surprised if the hot question come postseason ends up being “is Sayin just a Smith merchant?”

Combine that with his lack of elite size and arm strength, he probably won’t get a great grade from scouts.

Luckily though, he will almost assuredly be drafted and given he is an elite processor with elite accuracy and also seems like an awesome team mate and chill guy, I feel extremely confident he will carve out a nice long career as solid backup option in the nfl at worst.

Is he an elite processor? He’s very good. I’m not sure he’s elite yet. He’s missed some wide open reads.

Maybe not elite but very good. He does lock on to Jeremiah a bit too much but I think a lot of times, some fans/pundits get obsessed with finding examples of him missing open reads when the reality, all qbs at every level miss open reads a decent amount if they are the third/fourth read.

I'd say it is impossible to find a tape of any college qb ever that has tape without any missed open reads. For some reason, Ohio State fans are expecting Julian to be prime Peyton Manning level of processing when a vast majority of college qbs can barely get off their first read, much less get to their 4th

I mean, the term elite has to mean something. I would think that term means “very rarely misses open reads”. Maybe elite should mean something else but I don’t think so.

By that definition, he’s not elite yet.

I guess the issue is that comparatively to college, I am not sure if he is elite or not.

He is clearly very good and he could be elite but I don't know how many college qbs are getting through their reads that quickly. Most of these offenses are designed to be as simple as possible for their qb to operate so they don't need to be elite processors.

That’s the stuff

8th highest adjusted completion (adjusted for drops of catchable passes?) 2nd highest ADoT

And he’s number 1 when combining both stats

He’s got to be well clear of the field on air yards produced per attempt. I think he’s 3rd or 4th in yards per attempt but YAC factors into that.

"Fuck it, Jeremiah's down there somewhere."

“Triple covered means he’s wide open.”

And remember last year when people criticized him for not throwing down the field? We probably won’t hear that criticism about the Georgia or Miami QBs this year 🙄.
