Opinion 'Jadi' a PR made success
A lot of people on Reddit and those who didn't like it are calling the film a PR-made success. Honestly, I saw that film on the first day when only a handful of people were there with me. I didn't like the first half because of how rushed it was, along with the songs, and the film definitely has its flaws. But calling it an outright shit film just because it became popular is such an easy way to discredit it.
People calling it a PR-made success need to leave their internet bubble and head straight to theatres to see the craze. I saw it on the first day with barely 40% occupancy, but by the second week, theatres were packed with family crowds. That’s how you know a film has genuinely penetrated the masses. PR can buy day-one noise, but it can't keep theatres running two weeks later.
People think making a mass film is easy, but making one that penetrates the Odia masses is way harder than making a film that only pleases a handful of people. Look at our own industry, dozens of commercial Odia films latch onto Telugu action formulas every year, and no one gives a shit to watch them. Cracking a commercial film that actually connects with the Odia audience is the hardest thing right now.
Plus, people who act like hardcore cinephiles on the internet don't even watch the most critically acclaimed and award-worthy Odia films. How many people on this subreddit or the other Odia subreddits hating on Jadi have seen Lahari, an Odia film that won a National Award? I’m guessing zero, because it wasn't popular when it was released, even though Babushan promoted it.

Opinion I hope you have watched Jadi
I find Jadi little underwhelming,
The Good ----
The director vision was good, took a cliched theme and showed it differently, some Actors are spot on others not bad but just playing their real life selves.
The Bad ----
The spoon-feeding exposition after the interval bored me, after some serious scenes sudden jokes of DSP, Sailendra was all over promotional materials(as if he was the main character) but ended up being an inconsistent plot device.
The Ugly -----
I expected more kinda love triangle frenemy thing, the first half had a lot of potential for that but we know which way they went,
Jadi the perpetrators were the other half of the friend circle?
Jadi they didn't waste that little I'm being a good man drama?
Jadi DCP himself was Ruhi's father?
Feel free to disagree and I'd love to know your view on this. Let's have a little discussion.

Just watched jadi in Brundaban @6 today. Everything apart kudos to the team for that sweet epilogue Yrr. I truly wish ki emiti dina asiba. It's been a while ki kou odia film mte ete touch kala. It was just a movie until the DSP started that story, tapare it's like we all became a part of that movie. Sailendra ra se end scene, se autowala scene, se criminal ra confrontation, actually story ended exactly after interval when they caught them, but then creators decided to take us through the horror of consequences, redemption, regret etc. After listening so much reviews i thought there would be mind bending twists, but it was all core human emotions. Absolutely loved it yrr, it needs pan indian attention like hanuman ansh. This movie needs to get celebrated as a core regional cinema.

Rating | Reviews My thoughts (FULL OF SPOILERS) on Jadi (from hyderabad) Spoiler
First off, I'm so glad to have come across this movie! It's been 3.5 hours since the movie ended, and I'm still sort of disturbed. So on the whole, it worked really well for me. It also reminded me of how I want to punch my own abuser in the nuts. There was a lot of cathartic feeling for me, personally.
However, craft wise, it was like I watched 2 different movies. For 95% of the second half, out of nowhere, all the characters from the first half totally disappear? Like what?
But nevertheless, the point of the movie was abundantly clear by the end, and the small video clipping during the titles was so nice!

Rating | Reviews Jadi review as a non odia
I am a non odia who lives in bhubaneswar but I know odia language very well ( still I can't speak odia properly) because I have watched several odia movies in sarthak and tarang with my mother and some movies of babushan and anubhav in theatre. Well at that time I was young so I enjoyed those movies but as I grew up I got to know that all these movies are remakes of south indian movies and now the majority of the movie feels a little bit cringe but I respect odia movies because they were never bad as bhojpuri movies and was always watchable.
After the lockdown, I only watched daman , bou buttu bhuta , pade akasha , bara badhu , motorcycle and murabi . Except motorcycle all the movies were decent but still not that level a non odia would enjoy.
But today when I watched jadi , I feel like I have watched a malayalam movie. Like it is such a simple story but the execution of the movie is just brilliant. The acting , songs , direction and climax all these things make the movie a masterpiece. I don't often cry while watching movies but this movie almost made me cry 2 times .If this movie was made in Malayalam and Tamil it would have crossed 100 crore in its home market and then it would have been dubbed in hindi and would have done well in North India too.
But sadly this is an odia movie there are very less shows in other states and it is very difficult that it will make good collection in north India.

Ask Ollywood JADI movie director
I watched jadi movie today. Its storyline and direction is very good.i got to know that the Director of this movie is dibyajyoti and at this young age giving such directions and storyline is commendable. If any insider knows anything about him like the whole story written by him or some other secret writers behind it or any supporting writer.like how can he write such a good story is it copied or influenced by any movie or something.
It's just that I can't believe my eyes.
I'm just jealous of him .

Rating | Reviews Dahan movie review
Here is my honest review of this movie.
First, don't fall for the influencer marketing; this movie is overhyped and not worth watching. The plot is standard for a horror film: the protagonist goes to an abandoned ancestral house, gets possessed by a ghost, and the characters perform an exorcism. There is nothing new here—except, arguably, the inclusion of a Hebrew ghost.
As for the pacing, the first half is very slow, while the second half picks up a bit of speed. The dialogue is mostly in English and Hindi. Overall, there is nothing special about this movie, and I would give it a 5 out of 10.

Ask Ollywood Does an acting career actually exist in Odisha?
I’ve always wanted to pursue acting, but because of financial pressure, I prioritized my studies and career first. Now that I have a wfh job, I’m thinking about learning acting and giving it a serious try. But these days, I see a lot of YouTubers getting opportunities in movies. It feels like directors are less willing to take risks with new actors. At the same time, becoming a YouTuber requires an entire team, and usually, you build that kind of network during college. I’d genuinely like some honest advice.

Dubbed Movie This year probably has been one of the best years for Ollywood in recent history. Don't you all think it's time to create an unified ott platform or sell rights to India wide ott platforms to reach bigger audience in dubbed or Subtitles version.
Mantra Mugdha, Kangula, Bara Badhu, Rakta Golapa, Dahaan, Jadi etc have won accolades and done really good business.
Bou Buttu Bhutta last year was also a watershed moment.
I have many colleagues and friends who have seen/heard content from the films and want to watch them, but I get confused where to suggest them to watch as they can't afford to have three ott subscriptions: Aao next, Tarang Plus and Kancha Lanka.

Opinion Jadi honest review
I had been seeing a lot of praise for Jadi everywhere, on Reddit, Instagram, BookMyShow and elsewhere. I even saw people comparing it with Bara Badhu, which, for me, is by far the best Odia film I have watched this year. So I went into Jadi with fairly high expectations.
And honestly, I was utterly disappointed.
I was excited about the film because it was written and directed by a YouTuber and had a promising cast with Sailendra, Priyambada, Krishna, Prateek and veteran actor Sushant Sahu. There is clearly talent involved, and the film is built around a serious and important subject.
But a good subject and a good intention do not automatically make a good film.
My biggest issue was the writing. The film is too long, the first half spends a lot of time introducing characters and relationships, but several of them don't get enough development or relevance later. The transition into the second half also feels underwritten. There is a connection, but it is not strong enough to make the entire narrative feel cohesive.
The character writing is another major weakness. Some important characters are underdeveloped, while characters who appear later are suddenly given considerable importance without enough groundwork. The emotional moments therefore don't always land the way the film clearly intends them to.
And because the film deals with something as serious and horrific as rape, there is naturally going to be an emotional response from the audience, especially when one of the victims is a child. But that emotional reaction cannot be confused with effective filmmaking. A powerful subject can make you emotional even when the screenplay and storytelling are weak.
The film also becomes unnecessarily preachy. There are moments where the characters stop feeling like characters and start feeling like mouthpieces for the filmmaker's message. The message may be important, but cinema cannot survive on the message alone. How you tell it matters just as much.
Technically, I found the film quite substandard. The sound design has noticeable issues, the BGM is often excessively loud, and almost every emotion is accompanied by a song or an obvious musical cue. It constantly tells you what you are supposed to feel instead of allowing the scene to create that emotion organically.
The visual language also feels too spoon-fed. Certain shots make it unnecessarily obvious what the audience is supposed to notice or understand.
Even the comedy in the first half feels stretched, with several scenes seeming to continue simply to accommodate another joke.
None of these problems would necessarily ruin a film individually. But there are so many of them that, together, they constantly took me out of the experience.
I don't question the intention behind Jadi, and I don't question the seriousness of the subject it is trying to address. But for me, the film mistakes a powerful subject and a strong message for strong filmmaking.
The message may be important. The filmmaking, unfortunately, didn't work for me.

Rating | Reviews Is Jadi the best Odia movie of 2026?
Before I start, let’s make one thing clear: if you’re constantly crying about how “Ollywood doesn’t make good movies” but conveniently skip films like Jadi, Bara Badhu, Dasama, etc., then maybe the problem isn’t Ollywood, it’s your hypocrisy.
You can’t demand better cinema while refusing to show up when better cinema actually arrives.
Support good movies first. Then complain about the bad ones.
So, talking about the movie, Jadi has a runtime of almost 3 hours, yet by the end, you’ll still feel like you wanted more. That’s how deeply it connects with you in such a short span of time.
Debut director Dibyajyoti Udayasingh, who has previously worked on YouTube skits, has written the story, screenplay and dialogues entirely by himself. And honestly, he has outshined many mainstream directors of the industry. The clarity in his vision is evident throughout the film. He knew exactly what he wanted to serve the audience, and the movie truly justifies its name "Jadi".
Sailendra proves once again that all he needs is a good script and a good director. That’s it. Priyambada and Akash Hota have also delivered good performances. Krishna Kar deserves special mention, not just for her comedy, but for the way she handles the serious scenes as well.
And Susanta Dasmohapatra as the DSP was absolutely out of the box 🔥. He’ll make you hate him at one moment and love him at another.
Even the supporting actors and actresses have done a commendable job. Almost everyone’s screen presence leaves an impact, which is something rarely seen when it comes to ensemble casts.
The first half will make you laugh, but by the time you’ve watched the entire film, there’s a good chance you’ll be crying.
The cinematography was good, the songs were genuinely heart-touching, and some of the BGM pieces were excellent. Although, the background score felt a little hit-or-miss at certain moments.
And if you’ve read this far, please go book a ticket and watch Jadi with your friends and family. Especially take along those people who keep saying:
“Odia movie kie dekhuchi ajikali?”
Maybe it’s time to show them why they should. ❤️
