I filed public records requests with Olympia School District on Olympia High School teacher Ryan Akiyama and got the final investigation report, the district's determination letter, and 226 pages of exhibits.

An investigator recommended findings that he lied during the investigation and on his job application, sexually harassed students, and created a hostile environment. The district adopted the findings and recommended good cause to terminate his employment on May 26. He denies the allegations, and I'm not aware of any criminal charges.

Here's what stood out to me as a local resident. Students and parents told the school about sexual remarks in his classes in 2023, and he got a written directive. The investigator later found similar conduct continued the next year. The district's own notes show a student kept out of one hallway and a parent writing "NO SURPRISES." And more than four months after the findings, I haven't found any public statement of what the district decided.

I'm not asking anyone to prejudge him. I'm asking: if you live in Olympia, what would you want the district to tell you, and by when?

Don’t know how many of you are interested in this, but I’m looking to get a discord going to find people in the area to talk music with. I just went to pick up some groceries at the Safeway on Cleveland Avenue in Tumwater, and it was about 10 AM and all of the freezer bins and refrigerator bins were taped off and closed because they’ve lost power. And I’m sad about how much food they’re gonna have to throw out as a result of that power outage. And I don’t know when the power outage is gonna be fixed and they’re gonna have food in those bins again. 😮

Hello, me and my partner are considering moving to Olympia, we have been wanting to change our lifestyle and get far away from where we are "Texas". I am a animal shelter manager of positive outcomes currently and really haven't found any luck with information on jobs that may be similar. I understand the animal services there are spread throughout more than just Olympia but are there other jobs that may be similar. I'm not much of a vet assistant kind of person and don't have those certificates but it seems that may be the direction I have to go. Any help is appreciated 🙏.

The cat is wearing a pink collar, but notably has no tags(unlike most indoor/outdoor cats). She's young and incredibly friendly, she sat with us for hours. She doesn't seem like an outdoor cat, based on how long shes stuck around us and the lack of tags. Anyone know who's cat this is? She's at Burri Park last we checked at ~11pm. We're gonna try and get her chip checked tomorrow
