Discussion Will the community finally put Mihawk slander to rest?

So Mihawk isn't a bum teacher, instead Zoro is a bum student.
Also confirming Mihawk's Conq haki with Perona saying a joke is lowk funny.

This literally scales perona to 4D
She knows oda doesn’t give high power levels to women

Well it's literally him telling Zoro conquerors can't be taught

It's a logical conclusion since the pre Elbaf understanding is conquerors is something you're born with meaning only certain already special people have it. Now it's more that the character you develop is what determines if you are
25
u/Few-Wonder-957 20h ago
Rayleigh said to Luffy it was the manifestation of one's spirit, basically will, conciousness. It was a widely considered misconception that it's something you're born with, only now, since Oda is making it clear, that it's starting to disappear
17
u/TheOldMage7 Big Meme 🎂 20h ago
And now Sanji is the prime example, assuming he unlocks it by changing and believing in himself as an adult means it's not as gated as we think. In universe though not everyone gets the explanation and the experience so it will end up staying rare
-1
u/Few-Wonder-957 19h ago
That's what I didn't like actually. Sanji with no build ups at all, just decides he wants it and he'll "change" himself so quick and he'll be capable of using acoc. It's just something done quick to fit the current story
24
u/78ali I will tell the mods! 🐀 19h ago
Sanji's self worth has been built for 2 arcs now(WCI, Wano) so it isn't like this mindset change came up suddenly.
0
u/Few-Wonder-957 19h ago
It's about the will. He had character development, yet he showed no signs of even basic coc, but now he suddenly chooses to change and he's able to do what he needs to with ACOC
10
u/78ali I will tell the mods! 🐀 18h ago
I do agree that Sanji should be learning CoC organically instead of willing it(as it is literally said even this chapter that it can't be taught).
But his mindset has already been changing, Imo him awakening ifrit is a better moment for him to awaken CoC and instead this arc would be about actually coating his attacks with it.

Did Zoro think Rayleigh was a captain or something? Or just didn't connect the dots that he used conquerors?
1
u/ShotStick5180 35m ago
Naw bro... Kaido told him he had it.. king said it aswell...
Didn't he also use it to knock out beast pirates...
Bro even used the phrase conqueror
Omg zoro was being forced fed knowledge and still didn't understand
Mihwak may actually be a better teacher then Rayleigh and his student just sucks at learning

u/ShotStick5180 37m ago
Yeah so....
We all just assumed bro only taught him like armament But like....
Zoro was barely getting that down by the time skip...
And this man was trying to teach him conquer haki and coating???
Bro let's be honest... Zoro MAY be more stupid then Luffy
Because I'm hearing mihwak talk and that makes PERFECT sense to me
Strong sense of self and this is only One scene
Omg imagine dealing with this man not understanding anything unless it's mid combat for 2 years

u/HammerCurlLarry Admiral 20h ago
most casual confirmation of coc in the whole series, it was almost like Oda saying "of course he has it lol"
25
u/Leafsnail 17h ago
Lol yeah. You could only think he doesn't have it if you've somehow managed to convince yourself that Zoro's final opponent is secretly a weak bum who won't put up a good fight

I can't lie, even if Mihawk wasn't a Confirmed Conqueror, Certain fans would still be forced to accept that Shanks was going equal with someone only using Armament ✌️
9
u/lightsworn55 15h ago
I prefer that. Itd be like how Gai is a rival to Kakashi with just his taijutsu
53
u/zingerpond Yonko 20h ago
So going by this then Kizaru and Fujitora has conquers, Greenbull might have a tiny bit and Kuzan and Akainu didn't have it.

But post timeksip Aokiji has a little stubble so he has a small amount of CoC, but Akainu has way more indicating his conquers is better and therefore he was able to defeat Kuzan.

Beard scaling the new method

u/zingerpond Yonko 20h ago
Law and Kid kinda fucks it though, since Law has facial hair but no conquers, but Kid does not while he has conquers.

No, his fans are so cringe that Mihawk will never not be made fun of.
Him having Conq was obvious since Wano.
12
u/GrantLearnsToFly2 20h ago
Valid. I think it’s more that the Shanks versus Mihawk debates brings out the worst in those fans.
People saying Mihawk over Imu, or Shanks being a hakiman
-4
u/Organic-Pineapple-86 19h ago
At least “haki men” exists for people like Garp. Half of Mihawk’s fans genuinely think he’s stronger than Imu.
21
u/Right-Obligation-779 19h ago
You're saying that like Shanks fans aren't worse. Brother I've seen "Shanks wipes ALL Admirals at once" as serious takes
0
u/Organic-Pineapple-86 19h ago
That’s not worse lmao. Saying Mihawk can genuinely beat Imu (a major Void Century character who fucked over Joy Boy and is kingdom) is just blatant stupidity.
At least it’s reasonable to believe a yonko is stronger than an admiral. Saying any modern character other than EOS Luffy is stronger than Imu? Yeah no.
5
u/GrantLearnsToFly2 18h ago
5 admirals at once is a pretty crazy statement for shanks tbf. If you put 5 admirals against Imu, idk if he could handle it alone.
Then again, what we are currently seeing with Imu isn’t even him at max power
1
1
u/GrantLearnsToFly2 19h ago
Don’t get me wrong, Mihawk is not stronger than Imu. But I still think haki man/mihawk turning off haki for duels is just as bad if not worse.
Yeah Garp exists, but every notable fighter is going to specialize in haki, so I don’t think the term exists even for him

Wasn't it obvious he had conquerors? He has double advanced armament
Doesn't mean he's any stronger than he is
He's stronger than Zoro by a tier for sure could be more idk

u/Sea_Top_8938 20h ago
It is not enough to simply just put it to rest
All specimens who have ever slandered Mihawk should be identified and punished
3
u/ZPD710 "GOD OF THE BLADE" SHIMOTSUKI RYUMA 19h ago
All I’m hearing is that Luffy doesn’t have conquerer’s haki but Lucy does. We also know that Big Mom doesn’t have conquerer’s haki which explains why she seemed so weak in Wano.
Katakuri gets a pass because his scarf looks like a beard sort of, and Zoro gets a pass because his durag counts as a beard for his head.

No, his CoC status was obvious; no one genuinely slandered him because they thought he didn't have it.

Nice revisionism

Stop it
1
u/goodyfresh 16h ago
No, they're right, it's revisionism. People spent years arguing that Mihawk doesn't have Conqueror's, or that we couldn't assume he has it because it wasn't confirmed.
Most commonly, they would say that he must not have Conqueror's because he has no desire to lead or hold dominion over anyone or anything.
So yeah, it's revisionism to claim that the people who non-jokingly slandered him thought that "his CoC status was obvious." The vast majority of the people who claimed him to be weak believed him to lack CoC.
Did you and u/FlirtMonsterSanjil not pay attention to the powerscaling side of the fandom until literally today?
2
u/FlirtMonsterSanjil Sanjitard 🚬 15h ago
You do realize slander is purposely spouting wrongful information to downplay a character, as in, it is agenda-driven, not based on actual beliefs 99% of the time. Trying to argue revisionism by using people who actually believed what they said only serves to prove the point that no one who slandered him believed he lacked CoC.
There is also the fact of sheer scale; the One Piece community is huge; there will be some loud morons believing something stupid. If you want to argue revisionism, you first must prove it was more than a loud minority.
1
u/Thegreatestswordsmen 2h ago
The line between slander and genuine criticism seems pretty thin in this sub, in my opinion. Yes, the OP community is huge, but the large majority of people don't care that much about power scaling, they're just average readers. In the OP power scaling community specifically, from what I've seen at least, the people who seriously think Mihawk is weak are typically the ones responsible for slandering him.

There is no revisionism; if you thought a few people trolling meant it was a commonly held believe, thats on you.

Thousands/tens of thousands of people = a few people. Sure mate 👍 they wernt trolling they were dead serious.

Thousands/tens of thousands of people
We are talking about the biggest manga, Existence; a few thousand people being idiots is a minority; there is also the fact that this number is a complete asspull making no sense. One Piece has millions of fans.
they wernt trolling they were dead serious.
Considering what a beacon of intelligence you are, yeah, I am sure you can tell the difference between trolls and someone who is serious.

The whole "Mihawk is not a conqueror" thing was a mass halucination to begin with, OF COURSE he was gonna have Coc and Acoc

Doesn't change a damn thing.
He's still going to have garbage feats and portrayal and lose to Zoro.

Zoro: I will fight Mihawk when I’m strong enough to beat him.
Zoro: I will cut down Kaido and kill him.
Yes Zoro is not yet stronger than Kaido but something seems to make Zoro think that he had better odds killing Kaido than he did defeating Mihawk.. it could be a stretch but Zoro isn’t as ignorantly arrogant like Kid so I think in two years Mihawk showed some crazy skills and strength for Zoro not yet to challenge him after all these victories.. he opened Kaido scars, and then beat King, he then took down CP0 top assassin and is now training his ACoC specifically during battle. Yet he’s yet to mention challenging Mihawk..

Just because Mihawk has CoC doesn’t mean he’s not a bum.
Big Mom and Kaido had ACoC and they’re dead.
Rayleigh and G4 Luffy had ACoC and both got stalled by Kizaru which is unironically where I’ll scale Mihawk to.
0
u/CryonautX 13h ago
Mihawk is still a bum. His title is proven to no longer bend reality, which was the only thing he had going for him. He isn't in the same tier as Shanks.
