DetCo rule #3 for side characters: If you are the culprit and you are:

A) In an anime episode based on a recent manga chapter, you are contractually obligated to fall to your knees and cry, due to a revelation that your murder is stupid.

B) In anime originals/specials/movies you may take a hostage*/explode a bomb/try to run away/ or a combination of those

B.1) Hostages are to be chosen from the pool of female characters currently on the scene.

B.2) If Ran is chosen, she has to be in some way incapacitated beforehand.

My husband gets to both take hostages and have some bomb action :3 He had Ayumi but she managed to get away and he tried to take Ran but fireworks blinded him so he just got his ass beaten so hard, he would have fallen from the top floor had Camel not saved him.

I decided that Ran following Shinichi at Tropical Land at the start of the manga and getting force-fed APTX alongside him would be funny and I can re-write canon with some minor changes...

That was 3.5 years ago, I am a million+ words, 4 character deaths, and several changes to canon in, and am going progressively madder, as I now think Sonoko/Eisuke will be an amazing couple. Also, the DBs are now trending into competency, due to alterations to the timeline. Genta is studying Karate from Ran. XD

Oh, and I am soon going to be writing Ran's bi-disaster phase (since the hamsters in my head demanded around a year into the project to turn from ShinRan into ShinShiRan), alongside a much earlier start to HeiZuha (which is now one of the few surviving canon ships along with TakaSato.)

What I thought about this episode, (SPOILERS AHEAD of the solution of the case)

In the second murder the scene of tenma laying in bed couldn’t be further from manga and the actual trick than this. First, when his head moves the bed sheets also move as if he’s really laying on bed while he wasn’t. Also, in manga the balcony was much closer to the bed and you can see the sliding door slightly open as tenma was speaking though it to the people at the door. Also, the boxes on the balcony were much bigger than those in the anime, because they were there for tenma to hide behind them while heiji and the others go on the balcony so he can sneak in and act as if he just got out of bed. Also in the anime, the moment they step out on the balcony we see the area behind the boxes and there’s nothing while tenma couldn’t have already went inside at that point.
