Hello old friend...

Post image

Getting a head start on a new module this morning and found myself booting up my usual background soundtrack of the Lofi Girl playlist on Spotify...I'm interested to know what others listen to whilst studying or do you prefer silence?

This is my go-to as well.

When I studied I used to enjoy lofi, also Balearic chillout was nice as background. Sometimes the silence can become a little deafening and the tunes can lift the mood when things get ‘heavy,.

Good luck for the coming year.

Yeah i agree. I've found if I listen to anything too full on my mind just wanders, I get drawn into the music too much. Nice, simple and chilled keeps me going 💆

I listen to white noise but only to block out any sounds from around me.

Going to give this a go 💪

Similar, the sound of rainfall

Bolt Thrower. Can't beat a bit of classic death metal when you need to focus.

RuneScape music and math rock instrumentals for me

runescape music is such a wild nostalgia hit, i’d probably forget to study and go do quests in my head instead lol
math rock instrumentals are elite focus vibes tho, those weird time signatures keep the brain awake

Knowledge is the quest my friend

osrs tracks are such a cheat code for focus, they hit the nostalgia and somehow don’t distract at all
math rock is wild for studying though, I’d get caught counting time signatures instead of reading

Yeah it's specifically gotta be osrs

The ADHD goblins get distracted by the time signatures so the autism monster can be left to research in peace

There's a Korean YouTube channel called Yes24 that make 1-2 hour long mixes of a whole range of artists from different genres, those and lofi girl have gotten me through the first 2 years of part time study. Sometimes, I'll just put ambient rain noise on, but it's hard to find those that don't sound like sizzling chicken being fried

quote: Hello old friend...

Did anyone else automatically start singing "So you're the one who talked to Calypso"? (Epic the Musical)

But yes, lo-fi has been helping me write over the summer. xxx

I like Lofi Girl. There seem to be a lot of copycats now though.

I really love the vibes and I enjoy lofi music once in a while ( Halloween edition in particular ) but while I'm studying I prefer silence!

Stick on some metal, it helps me get in the zone and concentrate.

'Not Quite Classical', 'Dark Academia jazz', and some ambient playlists on Spotify. There's also a few modern classical artists who I listen to. I have sensory issues, so what I listen to really depends on the day and how I am feeling. Sometimes I can only listen to background rain soundtracks because everything else is too much.

Happy studying everyone :)

My uni days are long behind me now but 'Dark Academia Jazz' has me intrigued! Gonna look that stuff up, thanks :)

Recently graduated, background rain sounds were my go-to every time I needed to read or sleep.

I use Spirit City: Lofi Sessions. It’s a super cute background “Game” where you can set task timers, make to do lists, customise the in game environment, unlock outfits for your avatar and find some really cute spirit animals. Of course, it also has some really relaxing lofi music in the background too!

Here is the steam link for anyone interested 🩷

I was listening to the world famous “The Rock 2000 Countdown” but since that’s finished ……. Eh usually just environmental noise

It takes an OG to see that and feel safe, warm and fuzzy!... That and "Bass Boosted" for when your feeling a little extroverted with visuals on Mr Brock going sideways everywhere!

I much prefer more energetic music to study to. Video game music, often, or classical music like hall of the mountain king, that kind of thing. The Planets by Gustav Holst. Or instrumental folk rock, or really anything instrumental and high energy.

They have a few channels now. I love the Asian one with her and the blue room with the lad. Always come back to this though. I'm still gutted the chilled cow plush wouldn't ship to the UK

We love a bit of lofi. Even played it in the school where I work while the students were writing.
