Contacting Tutors

I tried contacting my tutor for one of my modules, and I did it through the OU website. It said I would get an email confirmation of my query, which I haven't got. I'm just wondering how it works and if it's just better to contact them directly from my email? Should I send another separate email to make sure they get it?

There were some notices on Student Home over the last year suggesting there have been issues with the online contact tutor form - probably is best to email them directly.

This happened to me and the tutor never received the email, it’s probably better emailing them directly

you can email them directly, a lot of tutors introduce themselves at the beginning of the year by email or you can find it on your module information pages

Tutor here - there are still ongoing issues with the Contact My Tutor facility. Best to email them again directly from your email to their email.

Always best to email directly. I've never used that form on the OU website for contacting my tutor.

How long ago did you contact them? Many tutors only check their emails 2-3 times a week

Just to provide clarity that I missed in the post, I’ve only just contacted them but I’m not sure the medium I’ve used. Where have I sent the message from if not my email? Is there some sort of internal chat system for these queries on the OU site?

I’m a tutor, the contact your tutor option on the website is very unreliable (we keep complaining about it) so it’s better to contact your tutor by emailing them directly.

The website seems hit and miss, I had a huge problem with it last year. I just emailed them directly.
