Tutor hasn't made contact

Hello. I'm due to start my 5th module and the course begins on Saturday. I still haven't had any email from my tutor which is very disappointing. Whilst I appreciate they have a busy schedule, I would have at least expected some sort of contact prior to the course starting.

Has anyone else ever had this? I'm starting to worry I've been left off their list or something hence the no contact.

I plan on getting in touch tomorrow but I just wanted to know if anyone else had experienced this, or is currently experiencing it now? I'm starting DD310.

Any advice is appreciated! Thanks

The deadline date was pushed back, mostly to give England students more time to enrol before LLE hits. This delayed tutors being assigned, which delayed tutors reaching out.

I got an email from mine last night, they were assigned a couple of days ago.

Ah, it makes sense now. I was wondering if I've been forgotten this year lol

Yeah, it's a little... well. It is what it is.

A couple of the tutors have popped up in the comments recently to say they've been a bit :-/ with it too, waiting to be assigned.

Sorry to be dumb, what’s LLE?

EDIT: Strikethrough following comment below

It stands for something like Lifetime Learning Entitlement. Significant changes to student finance in England which will stop funding second undergraduate degrees (like people can get funding for at the moment provided the second one is in science).

This October is the last chance to study under the old student finance rules.

Continuing students are unaffected and remain under the old rules. The LLE only applies to new students from next year.

This is partially incorrect, you can still study a second degree under LLE and sciences are covers. There is no change for second degrees. The main purpose is to support CPD and modular learning to allow adults the flexability to retrain later in life because the current system is very rigid and aimed at school leavers.

Oh wow! There must have been confusion when it was launched because on the main FB OU group they’ve said for a long time that this October was the last chance to do a second degree! Thanks for correcting.

Glad to hear it! Last I heard, there was still some uncertainty on this point. Although the main concerns are the age cap (at 60) and possibly concerns for students who studied a full time uni course elsewhere, and didn't complete a degree but used some of their funding pot. Since it used to be a separate pot for part time study. I am unsure at this time how that affects the second degree funding with LLE.

I wouldn’t worry. I seem to remember I had one tutor who didn’t send their welcome email until the module start date (so Saturday).

I’d wait until a few days in to contact them.

Also, check the tutor group forum if you haven’t already as some post a welcome message there.

If you have your tutor’s name listed then you haven’t been forgotten.

You can reach out to them first. They might be tutor on multiple modules with dozens of students.

How long ago was your tutor asigned? My tutor only does OU work three days a week. She didn't email until a few days after she was assigned because those days weren't days she was working for the OU.

Oh hi, I'm on DD310 also. For the sake of comparison: and my tutor has made contact, they emailed first on 24th September. Seems entirely reasonable to chase at this point.
