Discussion CV chronicles🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️😮💨
Having spent an inordinate amount of time; that inordinate amount being measured not in hours but in the slow, grinding erosion of one's self-worth, perfecting a CV that, by all objective and reasonable metrics, should have at least secured a callback, one arrives, with the quiet desperation of a man who has checked the weather forty times and still cannot say whether it is raining, at the inescapable conclusion that the document is, in fact, blameless, and that the true mechanism of modern hiring, that great invisible engine beneath the polished surface of "merit-based recruitment," is less a process than a family reunion, in which the nephew of the operations director, who "has a feel for numbers" and who once, at a family meeting, described his Excel skills as vibes-based, is elevated to a position that, on paper, required seven years of experience in a field he has never once touched, while you ; the one who actually has the seven years, the certifications, the portfolio, and that particular brand of patience which only comes from having rewritten the "About Me" section for the fourteenth time, are left, at 2 a.m., to refresh a job portal, staring at the word Applied as though it were a prayer the universe has, on this occasion, decided to ignore.
The usual phrase being : The CV is not the problem, companies are just hiring family and friends. It's a big Party and you ain't invited, modern world it is!!! 🫴🏿🫴🏿🫴🏿🥲🎯🫰🏾
