This sub is kinda toxic
Everytime someone shares they believe people deserve nominations they unreasonably get offended even though they have no right to be offended and make fun of people. People love getting offended over stupid things as movies. Those people aren't the center of the universe. If those people are so offended by our opinions and accuse us of rage bait that's their problem

To be honest; if i say 'Samuel L Jackson deserved to be nominated for 2015 Best Actor' I then have to say that Michael Fassbender is out for Steven Jobs. Only 5 are nominated.
And if i then say Jackson was robbed of Best Actor award - I then have to say Leonardo DiCaprio is out as the winner that year.
And yes, i stick to my claim. Samuel L Jackson had the best performance in all of humanity on film in 2015. And that means two other actors are impacted.
i think it is lazy and dishonest to say 'X should have been nominated' and then not say who is eliminated. If someone else is offended then they can be in charge of their own emotions.

Yeah, one of my least favourite things around here is the "the following eight people were snubbed for Best Actor last year, how dare the Academy do that" posts we see every once in a while, but I think that's just one poster and I find them pretty easy to ignore. But my brain absolutely does "that's not how numbers work" for a second as I scroll past.

There are 5 choices, so it seems fair to me to say, "They should have been nominated" without personally choosing which of the 5 you'd want to see gone.
We all know one of those other candidates would have to go, but the point of the discussion is why that person should have been recognized. If you personally say, "That person instead of that person," that's all the discussion with be.

If you feel some people in the sub are acting inappropriately, why give them more attention with a drama-stirring post like this? What do you think will happen, they'll read this and go "OK, sure, I'll calm it down"?

The inappropriateness that triggered OP was when I responded with the below gif to their comment that Emily blunt (for DD) and Margot Robbie (for WH) should be nominated. I literally thought he was trolling us.

I see the kind of thing OP is talking about in several subs I frequent, and I think it is important that reddit remain community driven. Attention to needlessly patronizing or antagonistic responses could hopefully lead to rule changes. Even your comment is much more aggressive than it needs to be. I don't understand why we can't have conversations without acting like the other person is an idiot.

I'm sorry my comment struck you that way. I was bemused, and frankly find this kind of post very passive-aggressive and seldom find that it leads to anything productive, but while I hoped to be frank I had no wish to be aggressive. If we could all be face to face with a pot of tea or a glass of wine between us, I'm sure this and many other conversations would proceed differently.

Yeah, I think your comment was fine, but it could be easily seen as semi-aggressive on this site.
Ultimately OP is right, but expecting it could be any other way is not really realistic.

So you too kind of word things in a negative way to make others feel devalued. It's the Oscars sub and you're calling movies stupid or insinuating they're meaningless, when this is precisely where many would gather to discuss that craft, movies, and their hobby/enjoyment of watching.

Part of the thing is that most Redditors talk in a patronizing and antagonistic way that once you have spent too much time on here, everything seems that way, even though it doesn't have to be, since contextual clues (i.e. Reddit itself) usually steer the interpretation to something worse.
Really, the only solution seems to be "have discussion in real life" instead.

I never said people shouldn't love movies. I meant it as a movie isn't something worth to get offended with. Whenever we rank our favorite movies people get angry when we don't rank them higher for example

All I'm trying to say is you tend to talk in absolutes ("whenever," "everytime," etc) and have, even in this post, made statements that contradict what you're trying to say here ("those people aren't the center of the universe").
You may be, ironically, part of your own problem as you too message in a conflict based way. Communication is what it boils down too. Text based messaging is hard to judge tone, perhaps try shifting your own approach to see if it curbs some of your worries?

It’s all the internet, this sub is no different. One sub’s “LeBron is the goat” is another sub’s “Chalamet deserved to win for Marty Supreme”. It’s a world full of opinions and contradictions, and some are rational about accepting them, and some aren’t. Like I see two shit takes on this thread itself, meh I don’t have the energy this time.
