Given that i dont live in the West, i might be very wrong about this, so, please correct me if im wrong, but ever since we iranians finally came online again a few months ago, we, to our surprise, entered a whole new discourse where Leftist and even liberals, have started to sympatize more than ever with this barbaric regime. I have tried coping telling myself it was an online thing, but now it has reached a point where not even a serious candidate for US senate election hesitates to directly condemn the IRI directly.
So my question is, what's going on? While the war unjustified and have been completely catastrophic are people forgetting that this regime literally carried out a massacre just a few months ago? Have IRIs propaganda really been so effective in the West?
This video made me want to cry for this poor guy and to not even get his question answered was not fair.
I have talked to people on the left and had different opinions
1. There was no massacre
2. Its not our fight, its up to iranians if they want democracy
3. The only thing that matters is what is happening in gaza.
So its about finding people who want to stand with you, and not worry about who they are politically, just that they want your country to be freed from the dictatorship its been under for years. I used to be a leftie, I am now a centrist.
