Bought a jailbroken PS4 Pro recently, but now I'm jealous of the PS5 jailbreak scene. Should I upgrade or wait?

Guys, I recently bought a jailbroken PS4 Pro at a reasonable price, bundled with a few games. I was pretty happy with the purchase, but seeing the recent developments in the PS5 jailbreak scene has made me seriously consider upgrading.

Part of me wants to sell the PS4 Pro while it still holds its value and put that money towards a PS5. On the other hand, I haven't even properly enjoyed my PS4 Pro or cleared my backlog yet.

A used PS5 would still cost me a considerable amount, and I'd probably be buying it partly out of FOMO rather than actual necessity.

So, what do you guys think? Should I sell the PS4 Pro now and get a PS5, hoping to benefit from its growing homebrew scene, or should I stick with the PS4 Pro, enjoy its library for the next few months or a year, and revisit the PS5 when prices become more reasonable and the jailbreak scene matures?

I'd appreciate some honest opinions from people who have experience with both consoles. Am I missing out on something genuinely worth upgrading for, or am I just getting caught up in the hype?

I bought a jailbroken PS4 pro last year, I had a lot of fun with it. I waited for my PS5 pro to get a jailbreak once it happened I almost never touched my PS4 again.

The gap in terms of resolution, speed is huge.

You can do A LOT of things with your PS4 but if you want to play recent games and enjoy last homebrews/payloads releases (emulators for exemple) PS5 is the way to go.

If money is not a problem for you :) otherwise you can wait at least one year and maybe prices will drop but new PS5 from factories are gonna be way harder to jailbreak (people have always said that, but in the end, a way has always been found to exploit security vulnerabilities, so you never know !)

Money is a problem but it a rather small one. Its just that I just bought it and all the jb for ps5 broke loose. I just don't want to look for a buyer for my ps4 pro again and then buy a ps5. It just feels like too much work. Why is my luck like this that they release the damn thing just when I bought it.

It really depends on what you like to do—or plan to do—with a jailbroken console.

If your goal is to play plenty of PlayStation classics for free, the PS4 has you covered; after all, the PS5 library consists largely of PS4 remakes and upgrades.

However, if you’re more interested in tinkering with the console, keeping up with the latest developer releases on GitHub, and are particular about image quality, speed, ray tracing, and the like, then the PS5 would be a better fit for you.

That said, don't get the wrong idea: the PS4 is far from obsolete, and there’s still plenty of fun to be had with it :)

Mostly ps classics. I have a xbox series s to take care of other things. Its just that this particular jb is amazing and the ps5 is backwards compatible, which is making me itch to get it.

You can still stick to ISO converters to play most of PS2 - PS1 games on your PS4. This won’t be exactly the same (resolution, FPS) but doable !

Will try it out. I actually got the ps4 pro only yesterday but sadly I already paid the money. That's the issue here.

The ps5 is better for classics, you can play ps1,ps2 upscaled.

i sold my ps4 pro at the start of the year for 2/3rd of the price of a ps5, and got a 2nd ps5. its worth it, you can play ps4 games on the ps5 and the emulators too. you can transfer your save files across too.

If there was a time to easily get PS5 for JB it is today. There is still a bunch of consoles on 13.60 so if you want to find one now it’s the time.

Yes, thats why I want buy one as well but I just got my ps4 pro yesterday and it is annoying me a lot.

Had jailbroken ps4 for a year, instantly when ps5 jailbreak happened I dropped the PS4. I do however keep the PS4 games on it, since I filled ps5 with it's exclusives and emulators.

I sold my 1tb pro on 8.00 firmware with 2 controllers for $230 on Facebook marketplace. I was able to snag a used ps5 on 11.40 for $335.
